Need material transport to playa

We have a smallish size art project this year and need help transporting our load of pre-fab art to the playa. Free Range Animal Automata Menagerie will have 6 animals on the playa this year and we need assistance with one trailer of materials. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/free-range-animal-au...

Yessir! I reviewed past map releases and they have occurred in early June for the past 7 or 8 years.

Re: 2017 Map?

In years past the online map came out in mid-June. Don't know what's up this year!

Also of note is that the parking zone they had outside of L between 6 and 9 in 2016 is not shown this year.

Re: PVC based shade structure over 10X14 Kodiak tent advice

Good luck with your project! Those costco carports are practically bombproof but probably overkill for your needs. I've seen similar setups to what you've posted and a lot were massive fails after only a moderate windstorm in 2015. You should take a look at this site. This type of structure will ho...

Re: Getting to Burning Man from Europe = mission impossible?

Not quite the second page, but here we go.... Over the 10 month preparation period, you seem to have been light on reading all the great stuff on this site. True, its not all organized that well, but I love it when I find some gem of wisdom tucked away in some dusty corner of the web site. This, how...

Re: 2017 Ticket Waiting Room??

If it works like it's supposed to, the waiting room is from 13:30 to 13:59:59. at 14:00, those in the waiting room are randomly put in line. People jumping in line after 14:00:00 are put at the back of the queue (fucked, basically). Last years glitch put those people in the front of the queue. They...

Re: 2017 Ticket Waiting Room??

I hate to bring it up, but doesn't this complete the circle back to a lottery driven sale? The article in the RGJ (link below) referenced that an unconfirmed 70,000 people applied for around 30,000 tickets last year. A good bet will be that at least half of them will click on the link early resultin...

Well the dust is once again real for me this year! Despite the EXTRA $189 NV ticket fee added for two tix, we bit the bullet and are in....Woohoo!
I'm sure it won't be as good as 2010 tho...

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

Ok fans...Gao in true Burner fashion forgot his user name AND password so he asked to pass along the FINAL update before we see ya'll back Home. Wheels are done, 2" oak axle installed, the and shell is cut and ready for a Playa build out. Gao has reported that it is ALL wood...no metal anywhere...

Who's doing rock n roll at their camps this year? We are in dire need of avoiding EDM this year and want to find places that are going to have real music to enjoy! See you next week!

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

It's a mock up (notice no axle yet) and knowing Gao, it'll be as strong as a Boeing 777 wing.

BUT I also think clearance could be a issue. Thanks for all the input...it may help!

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

Gao is constructing faster than posting, so I'd thought to help him out. As you can see, he has wheels, platform, tow bar, bike, test goddess, and cigar in place. I can confirm that he is going to use a solid wood axle made of red oak. In the photo, he's mocked up his proposed ride height (looks to ...

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

Gao loves bonding and bondage but only of a woody nature. Screw clamps are ok, but what truly gets him going is friction. In 2010, not only did he have enough bolts that would hold up a 737 wing in flight, he had to drill each bolt hole with tolerances so tight the each of the 400 bolts had to be ha...

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

Open topic for the masses: Shall Gao leave the wheels open style (playa paddle wheel) or wrap them with a thin wood strip?

It's possible that the open style may be effective though the shallow dunes...or just a dust maker? Also there are more potential playa paddle problems peddling past potholes.

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart

Update here on Gao's behalf. He's mastered attaching photos to an email, but posting here is below his pay grade. Normally he has support of many minions to handle these type of details. BUT he's done an incredibly good job on preparing his wheels for the Martini Chariot! If he does as well on the b...
