Re: Low Income Ticket Program
This SUCKS. 8 of the 15 people I was going to go with got rejected. So you signed up for a single ticket each? I signed up for all I could afford - a single $240 ticket. I can't speak for everyone else. Right now the plan is "The Playa will find a way". That's not much of a plan. 160 is not really ...

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Who is to judge considering that none of us really know miguel's situation? I applied for a low income ticket and received one... I also applied for the lottery and was rejected. Not that it's anyone's business but I used my tuition reimbursement (which is student loan money that I have to pay back ...

Re: hammock sleepers
My vote would be "buy a tent and deal with it", as you've said. :) . . . i.e. Coleman 10" steel stakes, or for a canvas tent--rebar, use taut guy lines, no flapping or loose anything, and pitch the tent North of a vehicle. The odds are better that your tent won't be destroyed, if you do it right. I...

Re: hammock sleepers
hmm... i have slept in the hammock in the rain and the cold, but never both together. that might be a bit iffy! i hear the weather has been good in BRC for the past few years, perhaps that means this year will be the time for windy storms and possibly rain. i'm hoping the dome gets to come with us, ...

hammock sleepers
After my tent got destroyed by the wind at our Texas regional last year, I have yet to fix it and have been pretty happy just bringing a hammock to burns. Granted, I have only been to Texas and Missouri burns where there are plenty of shady trees. So my question/concern is, has anyone used a hammock...

Re: Would you flash mob my wedding!?
If nothing else, I'm sure you could get people into the idea once you get there... I will "plan" to do it, but who knows what will happen many months from now when I'm playing in the dust with all of you :) Personally, if one of my neighbors approached me with this, I would most likely do my absolut...

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
Got mine at 3:43! I had emailed them on Monday to clarify some things on my application and they said it would be another week, but it was only two days until I found out.
Yippee!
Good luck to all, stay patient

Re: CALLING ALL SAN ANTONIO AREA BURNERS!!!
I'm from Dallas but usually make the drive down to Austin for burn events (Freezerburn, Orfunner, Flipside decomp... there are many). My suggestion is to get involved in all the burning flipside flipizen group on facebook and maybe even the north texas burner group. It's a quick way to meet other bu...

Re: Survival Guide for College Students Missing First Week?
I would look for a school that does not start the week of Burning man. Another option is to take Thursday and Friday off, which you might be able to get away with, and just go to as much of the burn as you can. It will be a rough Tuesday when you get back to school. I have honestly not pursued a te...

Re: Survival Guide for College Students Missing First Week?
Most professors are fairly understanding, especially as long as you let them know in advance. Use travel time for getting reading done, if you work as well maybe try to take a few extra days off for when you get back so that you can focus on getting caught up with school work. Most undergrad classes...

Re: Has anybody been awarded a Low Income ticket yet?
Still waiting to hear back, already looking at other options as far as orphan burns for the same week, looks like a 30 dollar burn might be more well suited to my budget lol.
Congrats to all of you who have received a ticket! <3

Anyone else receive their denial email? I have yet to receive one and have only heard of a few going out.
