Re: Does anyone know what ____ was called?
Who designed the incredible wooden structures in the walk-in camping area? There were a series of interlocking wooden huts that anyone could wander up to and sleep in. These then led to a massive, multiple story wooden structure that could be climbed and slept upon. It was probably two-thirds the h...

Re: Looking for a place to clean my bike in SF
Jesus christ, there's a lot of kvetching in this thread. Just find a hose and wash it down. Literally, it took me 20 minutes to clean and lubricate my bike. Rise bike with hose. Get a bucket of soapy water (with some vinegar added) and a scrub brush, scrub the dirt off the bike. Rinse again with hos...

Re: Plug n plays running amuk
The plug and plays are businesses run on a business model. If they are successful, they make money and flourish. That is their goal. More will logically follow with each new success. Why would they not? What would stop that? There are such things as tipping points and exponential growth, remember, ...

Re: DJ Art Cars And Their Effect On Art
We were seated right in front of the Mayan Warrior for the Burn, where the Pachanga Boys were playing an awesome tribal drum track for the duration of the lead-up and actual Burn. It set a great mood, very spacey and ominous. However about 10 minutes before the Burn began, the art car next to Mayan ...

Re: Jungo Road - rain disaster
Haven't heard about Jungo Road conditions this year . That said, it wasn't a lot of rain, but very localized showers, usually light, sometimes moderate for a shorter period, with the odd thunderstorm cell. For BRC, it was just enough rain for long enough at the wrong spot, to wet the playa, drenchi...

Re: Jungo Road - rain disaster
Doesn't matter. It's a parking lot because the gate is closed until at least tomorrow morning. Yes, it's a parking lot. But if I get on 447 tomorrow it will be miles of parking lot. Jungo Road would skip a whole lot of that. So maybe I'm looking at an 8 hour wait via Jungo road vs. 12 to 15 hour wa...

Jungo Road - rain disaster
I have 2014 4x4 V8 Chevy Silverado, coming up from Los Angeles right now. From what I'm hearing from friends up there, the paved road is a parking lot for miles and miles.
Has anyone driven Jungo Road in the last two days? Total washed out disaster? Or is it still passable?

Re: dry ice
Just picked up my dry ice. 80 pounds for $32. Locate your local wholesale ice cream dealer. Look for big boy or excel ice cream wholesalers. 8) This was such a brilliant idea, Figjam. All the dry ice wholesalers in Los Angeles want $1/pound + tax. And they require a 45 minute roundtrip drive. The l...

Re: iBurn 2014 is out for iOS and Android
Hahahaha I wish. We really have to get this policy changed for next year considering all of the camp locations (and more) are available from 3rd party sources like BurnerMap. Yeah, it's a weird policy considering that there's BurnerMap and all the camps are posting locations on their respective FB ...

Hi Chris,
I attended my first Burn last year and I found iBurn to be ridiculously helpful. Thanks so much for your team's hard work on the app, it looks amazing this year.
Any chance you can PM me the password and I'll do some beta testing?

I'm having the same issue with the battery. My girlfriend went to Costco today in LA and they didn't have any. Any other recommendations? They sell them at Autozone or some place similar? How close are you to Rancho Cucamonga ? Bass Pro Shops or any other boat dealership will probably have them. We...

Re: cooling your tent or van
You don't HAVE to splice the pump and fan together. That was just for convenience. Just put some clips on the wires from the pump and fan, then clip to the battery terminals. The fan will only work when connected correctly, but it won't hurt it if you get it backwards. The pump will work no matter ...

Figjam, I've got the swamp cooler down but I am a total n00b when it comes to the electrical. I have a 12V pump and fan, but I need to pick up a marine battery at Costco. Everything VC said, and Having to get up in the morning to buy ice for the cooler so you can sleep later seems a bit counterproductive, wouldn't you think? Or am I missing something.... You could get around this if you used the dry ice double ice chest method of keeping your food cold and freezing ...

I tried to use the search function on this thread, but it doesn't seem to be working. Apologies if this has already been covered. Re: Driving from Los Angeles - best route to see cool stuff?
If you go the 395 route be very careful if you plan to take anything with you, including pot. Last year there was a huge sting near Mammoth where many burners were unfairly targeted and had their cars searched for any and everything. http://thesheetnews.com/2013/09/08/mono-county-burned/ Should be ...

Holy cow, I just found out about Travertine Springs, which is just off 395 just north of Mono Lake.
This looks incredible! We're definitely stopping here. Reminds me of the Blue Lagoon outside Reykjavik in Iceland

Re: Driving from Los Angeles - best route to see cool stuff?
One issue that concerns me is that 395 might be really crowded around the Labor Day weekend, since that's a main route into Yosemite. Is it better to take 395 past Yosemite on the way to BRC and then take the desert route on the way back to LA? With the desert route, one separates/catches back to 39...

Driving from Los Angeles - best route to see cool stuff?
Taking my GF to her first Burn this year, shortly after she moves to LA from the East Coast. We were thinking of doing the desert route from LA up 395, past Death Valley, into Nevada, and then through Fernley. I've only driven the I-5-to-Reno-via-Tahoe route in the past, so I want to see if there's ...

Re: Combining two geodesic domes?
Two 2V domes will only share one strut, and this will be on the base ring. You could indeed share this strut, but everything else will need interposing struts to make a gateway between the two. Really the best idea would be to position the domes about 5 feet apart with the doors facing each other. ...

Combining two geodesic domes?
A buddy recently purchased two 2V 16' diameter geodesic domes for our camp. He still hasn't set them up, but the domes have all the hardware (bolts and nuts) necessary for connecting the struts. My question is this: How would you go about connecting the domes? Could you construct the domes so that t...
