Re: One Item for BM a Day

I really didn't want to spend the money on one of those camel backpacks (thought I could get by with two water bottles), but I've been advised that's it's a worthy investment and makes a real difference at the burn. So... I caved. Someone on the the Boston burner list posted this. so I thought I'd s...

Re: One Item for BM a Day

Thanks Savanah for the response! I got the tub and will see how it works at the regional with a garden sprayer. Luckily, I'm going to have my hair in goddess braids (as I know my curly ethnic hair can't take the dryness) so at least I won't have to worry about really washing my hair. Oh and today m...

Re: One Item for BM a Day

Collapsible is cool in limited packing space. If it's not as waterproof as it bills itself, or you poke a hole in it somehow, you could get a little tent mud. On the other hand, with a sprayer you're not going to use a lot of water, so you won't be putting a lot of strain on the item . . . could be...

Thinking about getting this for my in tent shower set-up with a garden sprayer? What do you think? I love that it folds down and has a spout.

Re: One Item for BM a Day

I found a portable camp stool for $12 that's small enough to fit in a back pack, even a purse! If it holds up that could come in handy in my day to day life as well.

Re: E cig smokers?

Maybe, maybe not. For a large chunk of the 20th century respectable women didn't smoke. Who says I would have been a woman! I think that depends on where/how you grew up. Though it may have been frowned upon, it doesnt mean woman didn't do. Also, I was born in the 20th century so If I could ...

Re: E cig smokers?

A friend of mine loooves the electronic cigarette. He's used it to cut back (hasn't quit though) and I have to say . . . it is much easier to invade his personal space when it's not smokey. Truth! Since ive cut back and only do it in occasion or burst of time, being back in Nashville where you can ...

Re: E cig smokers?

Kinda have to agree with Drawainga blank. Im an on and off smoker mostly becasue they are $9 a pack here, and as a sounthern i just refuse to pay that price. I tried the crown lion brand and I think it taste funny, makes my throat scratchy, and is less stisfying. However, a friend of mine had one wh...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

BB, please don't put words in my mouth; just means I'm curious about people's usual camping habits, or lack thereof, in the context of what they're asking. And that I value honesty, and radical mercy. Yeah, I'm spiritual that way. Great advice Eric, though I'll leave the whole "alkaline playa&...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

Though i havent been to BM I've attended aome 4 to 5 day festivals in 90 degree weather and I ate onnce a day and I had to make myself. I would assume it will be the same in the desert. That would be a bad assumption. The playa is a high-altitude alkaline lake bed, and the alkaline dust that makes ...

Thick skin? Shouldn't you follow your own advice? Why are you commenting? If being "babied " equals being treated with kindness you have serious issues. I would saying getting involved with more negative comments at this point is more childish than anything I've said on this board. Follow...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

Hi Muffin. I think you are on the right track with your food ideas. You may want to consider purchasing a vaccuum sealer. These are great for general home use as well as Burning Man. I purchase something new for burning man every year. I started with a sealer, couple years ago it was a Kodiac tent ...

You need to grow some thicker skin Muffin. You're not going to be babied here, and if you expect that you ought to delete your account right now and move on. At the very least use the plonking link in my signature to add whomever you feel you don't like, so at least you don't attract more-- real --...

What do you hope to gain by continuing to perpetuate the ugliness? Being a bully make you feel better? Re: One Item for BM a Day

The big box store with a bullseye had tons on clearance. May have to go back and grab a few more if I can swing it. :D As a side note, my BudK catalog lists the LR44/AG13/357 (they're all the same battery, just not standardized to one number yet) button batteries for those things 50 pack for $5.99 ...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

Trying to say any of this out concern is like pushing someone in the deep end of a pool unexpectedly to " teach" them how to swim. And if food is so basic, why do people spend years in culinary school to learn to prepare it? i actually grew up on a farm down south. So, yes I've been campin...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

This is my first burn and I'm coming from the east cost, so I’ve been contemplating how I can eat decently at the Burn with little waste, no camp kitchen and no grey water. I came up with this idea that is similar to how catering companies use those foil pans with burners underneath to keep food wa...

Re: A low waste cooking idea... What do you think

Taking it out may be an option, but I will not have any food grey water if I can make the I started this thread for work.
