2012 Moop suggestions?

I was astounded by the moop this year. It was my first year back in 10, and I've become a bit dis-enchanted by the level of shit left behind by participants. I'm sure that it's no worse than the early years (and in some ways, much better!). At my local regional, *Soak, this year, I went into the por...

Re: Water trucks

It will make you sick!

Unless you are planning on taking a shower or wiping down with alcohol after, you will be carrying E-coli and other nasties.

It's icky. Trust in that!!!

Leaving tomorrow AM. Overnight in Oregon, then on to my Dad's outside of Fernley. Into the Burn Friday to build out camp.

Exciting!

Penske Truck Rental agreement

Just saw this on the Interweb and it looks pretty serious! I wouldn''t want my box truck to be repossessed while at the burn!

Tips for diesel truck?

Looking for tips to keep my diesel engine happy and dust free after the event. I'm planning to change my air filter before startup.

Any other tips or tricks to keep the dust from destroying my rig?

Re: Fireball or LemonHead?

Turns out, my two fireballs are different sizes.... One is obviously bar-coded for individual sale, and the other is smaller and marked "not for individual resale".

C'mon BMORG! Where will it end?

Re: Goggles and Dust Mask

You might pack a bandanna in you kit as well, and try it out to see which is more comfortable. My experience with those dustmasks is that I tear them off in frustration after about 20 minutes. Pretty uncomfortable, and the metal piece that you pinch over your nose rubs badly.

Fireball or LemonHead?

Which are you?

I heard that if you overlay a map of BRC with yellow pins for the lemonheads and red pins for the fireballs, it'll make a picture of Larry snorting coke.

Re: Petition to bring Camels to the playa

I seem to remember some of the 'Villians mashing that poop up into "Camel Canapes" (camel poop and mayo wrapped in tortillas) and delivering them to their camp while singing the "camel song."

Names with held of course.

Re: Burning Man Denies Tribal Guests

@ Trilo- How dare you suggest that everyone who purchased the "guest" tickets resold them for a profit. I'd agree that it did happen, but cancelling the entire system because of a minority of infractions is screwy. I'm glad all of those kids in the step program are enjoying their 1000 tick...

When I walk out the door, on my way to the man, I've been preparing for months. The participation that culminates during the burn is interwoven into the fabric of my being. I find it preferable to spend both my time and money on events where I'm not consuming a product. I love live music, and enjoy many shows, but the big festivals feel empty. I guess I've passed the age where I need to be surrounded by 1000's of other people with eyes glazed, watching trained monkeys ...

Re: Tiny House on Playa

Hey there!

All I have to say is that I am also building a "tiny house" to bring to burning man and live in. I am not, however, running a kickstarter to fund it.

Others are doing the same. Check out Figjam's thread on playapods.

This crowdsource funding bullshit is wearing thin.

Thanks for the humor! Ya'll are brilliant. Heard the story yesterday from a friend in tribal government. It seems to be the official line. I would agree that there were abuses in this system. There were also abuses in the system that the rest of the kids used. I'm mad because this not only punished ...

Burning Man Denies Tribal Guests

I'm really saddened by the news today that the Burning Man Organization is changing their ticketing policy for members of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe (PLPT). Historically, tribal members over 18 years of age were allowed to purchase a ticket for themselves and up to two additional guest tickets at...

Drywall screws are typically black in color, and usually specified as being for drywall. I would suggest using gold wood screws or even green outdoor deck screws. I also noticed in your video that some of the areas where you screwed things together had split where you screwed them. That is a for-sur...
