Contact Lenses on the Playa?

I'd like to hear people's luck with wearing contacts on the Playa. Thinking about getting some, but wondering if the dust/wind factor makes it totally impractical. Thanks!

Voluntary shutdown?

The idea of unplugged is interesting, but it's next to impossible I think to get the population to take a step backwards, even if it is a revolutionary idea. i'm thinking of walk-in camping next year, or at least on the outermost circle. last year it didn't bother me, but the all-nite music was loud...

Playa Mantis Sitings?

I only saw one praying mantis this year, it was in the Sunrise Station for a few days (it was very grateful for a drink of water). Last year there were lots of them. Sitings, anyone?

not you in particular (i don't even know u, zane)

Of course a lot of folks are posting very positive comments and observations. But a lot of people are interesting in exploiting the negatives this year. Just meant I didn't really want that sort of skewed feedback to my question.

Experiences from BMs past?

I'm very very curious about something. I perceive BRC as a microcosm of the world at large, representing all that is best and consequently worst in human nature. That would mean that the sorts of felonious (at worst) and sleazy (marginally less-worse) behavior we've been reading about in this distur...

Don't forget the parasites.
You are doing a disservice to both predators AND parasites by comparing them to humans.

obsessed with self

it's hard not to be obsessed with oneself. afterall, we live herein. it's the only true perspective we have (well, most people have some perspective of the Self one hopes), despite our valiant attempts to walk that mile in another's shoes...but that's another thread altogether i think. Wait, gotta g...

what about the prayer flags???

temples prayer flags shrines churches o'this and that. gosh, i wouldn't have thought that the concept of belief presented so little inspiration to so many. oceans pirates and jellyfish were oh so much easier. but as i've said elsewhere: i admire any/everyone who makes an effort to bring Art to BM. oh and in case of drugged rape

obviously, the person cannot utter "no" and that does not mean it is not rape. just so I'm clear, cuz people jump on every little thing here, oh yes they do.

thread gone mad

can't figure out what's gone wrong with this thread. everyone agrees: rape is despicable -- if no is uttered, and/or resistance offered, it is rape. pure and simple. "No" must be uttered, though, and it is totally up to the party being pressed for sex to do so. Clandyone is absolutely correct: the p...

I had such a crush on Mighty Mouse when I was a little girl and didn't understand the whole cross-species thing (well, I guess I knew he was a mouse, and a cartoon to boot, but still...those ears....). but i will say that the life you describe is ideal for some, and not in the least desireable to others. no more playa dreams

i know i've weaned myself away (or have been weaned) when i stop waking up wondering why i'm not in a tent. when water and dust and circles are not part of my dreams any longer. i think this year's burn, because of its difficulties, might stay with me longer -- there was a lot of mental and emotiona...

"center" camp just not

it is not a camp. it is not a center, except for commerce and a brand of strangeness i myself prefer to avoid. spent a minimum of time there last year, couple hours maybe, very early in the week (sunday or monday). there was some good quiet music, and comfy places to rest weary bones. we didn't both...

Sorry we brought so much food we didn't eat; sorry we didn't solicit hungry souls on the street when it was obvious we had prepared too much to eat ourselves.

Confess! vs Apologies?

tee hee, looks like despite the secular humanist trend at BM, people would rather confess than apologize! Jeez, I'm a good catholic girl and i haven't been to confession in ____ years.
