Re: Q/POC Camp
I don't think there is and I'm already involved with a camp but I'd still be interested in meeting up with queer persons of colour who go.

Re: Biking to the burn
Alright, I am both a virgin big burner and hopeful of being able to bike into the burn..all the way from Eugene, OR. I've toured before and I'm not going to be alone on this adventure....I'm wondering if you have any advice for someone who is both going to the burn for the first time, and arriving ...

Re: ASL on the playa
I'm Deaf/hoh and I'm going this year. I always hope to meet other Deaf folks but I rarely do, usually only very briefly. Hearing people often find me no fun to practice ASL with because I'm a speech therapists wet dream... it can be hard to get me to stop speaking English sometimes to them since I l...

Re: leave to pick someone up and return
I do all sorts of stupid things and I wouldn't really want to walk that stretch.... I can say this from doing that on a bike. Too many cars not paying attention because nobody is really used to seeing pedestrians (or even cyclists) on that stretch and so they're looking for massive amounts of steel ...

Re: Biking to the burn
with that said i know a few people who do it.. one who does it often and they get by fine... i believe the one who does it often takes the route up toward pyramid lake from reno then round the lake to 447 instead of going through i-80/fernley... the trip is about the same distance either way.. but ...

Biking to the burn
No, I'm not suicidal... nor am I a virgin in any sense of the word. Can't tell you if I'm crazy as crazy people seldom know if they're crazy but I reckon my interest in crossing the desert on a bike might qualify me. Anyway, last year I did the stretch of the route from the store in Empire...

Yep, you can do this. Don't forget to purchase an in/out pass. I'd keep your stub, receipt, and ID with you just to be prudent.... better well prepared than delayed/stuck outside.

Re: Sneaking into Burning Man
Here's the other thing no one mentions about sneaking in- if you're crossing open playa on foot or on a bike PG&E might never get to have their way with you- LE and the BLM will likely find you first. I came in early on a bike last year. If you are a volunteer who needs to associate pretty often wit...

Re: What constitutes "low income"? (talk amongst yourselves
If my response seemed defensive, it because it was. If "they" really are reading these boards and people are trying to say that 13,000 a year is absolutely NOT low income frankly upsets me. It's a low income ticket not just a no income one, and I really hope the person who asked that question above...

Re: Why Are So Few Tickets Being Scalped
reading these replies in this forum cracks me up. FYI scalpers are already on eplaya, trolling just like how you are trolling for tickets. Let me tell you this, I have and know, many brokers who have made hundreds of thousands of dollars of this event already. Good luck getting "HOME"! =] Reall? Yo...

Re: Low Income Ticket Program
I have someone I hope to have come with me and the original plan was to cross our fingers for her to get a low income ticket and for me to pay for most (if not all) of it. (I volunteer so I'm already settled for a ticket and did not go though any other sale.) However, I'm looking at the documentatio...

Re: Volunteering=stubs???
You're probably getting some slack because (a) the culture which creates a general expectation that people volunteer without looking for something in return and (b) there are many people who have worked their assess off volunteering each year (some of whom don't get a gift ticket) who just don't lik...

Re: Survival Guide for College Students Missing First Week?
I've missed the first week or the last week of classes every year for Burning Man. I just contact my professors in advance and let them know and ask them not to drop me and to let me take the test at another time (most will, especially since I'm disabled so they can stick the student disability cent...

Re: Will my tent be ruined?
If the family expects the tent back in similar condition, don't bring the tent. I brought the family tent my first year. Thank goodness it was the same tent I'd broken a pole on once as a kid (a friend and I got an idea into our heads to use it like a giant hamster ball >_< ). My parents (being the ...

Re: Any ladies ever try a she wee or similar device?
Er, so I hope I'm not out of line talking on this (not very ladylike here) but... If you're on the cheap and want something small enough to fit in a half sandwich ziplock (or a pocket) a children's medicine spoon with the measurement end cut off at about a thirty degree angle should work fine and le...

Re: Anubis
This looks wondrous! What a neat project... I can't wait to see it out on the playa. (I submitted a volunteer form, too, because it's just that cool.) I like the idea for the lasers! And the idea for some sort of ambient sounds, too. I probably won't be able to hear it... If I stop in at the temple ...

✰ Run Free Camp! ✰ [Clean/sober & Queer-friendly]
Hey all! We're Camp Run Free and we're a new camp for 2012... but perhaps you've seen some of us before in a previous incarnation (Yes, we're a shiny new little camp but at the moment all of our members thus far are previous Camp Stella folks.) Run Free is a clean and sober Burning Man camp for fol...
