Re: Could my girlfriend hate it?

Thanks for the support :) Last few weeks have been tough, like hardly getting any work done and hardly leaving the house. But I think things are on the upswing. I'm going to show up and humbly say while she didn't attend the burn that it ended poorly. Live and learn. I knew it would... not to be har...

Re: hexayurt tie downs

Yurt and new tie downs were a huge success. Turns out 16" of 1" aluminum angle is overkill. It was a huge challenge to pound in and remove. We only used two stakes and the yurt wasn't going anywhere, it was very very stiff. Gets my professional engineers stamp. Single figjam cooler was marginal but ...

Re: Find ticket on playa?

. I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, but you should evaluate whether you weren't unconciously looking for somebody else's approval. Probably more likely I subconsciously knew it was a bad idea and already had a feeling there will be no glut, and needed to be told so. Anyway we are making ...

Re: Find ticket on playa?

Ahhh, he was hedging on the glut, planning to sell his tickets in hand and try to get cheaper later, like his plan with the girlfriend, we have ourselves a gambling man. You should just stay in Reno, but I would rather you force her to ride with you to the gate and try to get her ticket there. Karm...

Re: Find ticket on playa?

Wouldn't it be better to save your girlfriend?? Is she cute? Maybe she needs someone who will take better care of her... Judging from your other posts, she'd eat you alive. Was looking for an intelligent analysis of the market or any historical insights. Would have been trivial last year. Ill take ...

Find ticket on playa?

Girlfriend is arriving Wednesday eve. Ill be picking her up in Reno. Been watching the ticket markets closely the last few years and haven't decided whether I should wait this one out. Looks to me like there is no glut like last year, it may only get more difficult to find a ticket. On the other han...

Re: hexayurt tie downs

Yurts been built with anchors nearly as described. Only change is I have 12 16" long 1" aluminum angle stakes to attach to the wooden boards. The stakes have a lateral hole in the top which will allow them to be screwed to the reinforcement boards once they are pounded in. The reinforcement boards w...

Dura cool pad sourcing difficulty

Haven't been able to source a dura cool pad for my yurt. Located in Canada so nobody sells these. Simsupply took my money and never shipped, although they refunded me they've left me little time to find an alternative. Lowes usa won't sell to Canadian credit card holders. Klamath falls Home Depot is...

Re: Could my girlfriend hate it?

This topic struck a huge chord. I just got out of a situation exactly like yours. That's the main reason no one has seen me for five years. I though it was worth it, but it wasn't. Life was hell. Nothing I can say will make you change your path - so best of luck to you and when you finally break fr...

Re: Could my girlfriend hate it?

She's seen some videos, so the live feed wouldn't change anything. I didn't get it by watching youtube either, it doesn't do brc any justice. I took a leap of faith based on several of my friends encouraging me to go. Our first date she asked me what I looked for in a woman and I replied confidence,...

Could my girlfriend hate it?

Two time burner with a serious new girlfriend as of June. She 'doesn't get it' and isn't particularly interested in coming, but is willing to join a few days as it means a lot to me. Bad idea? Granted, I didn't get it before going either. From my point of view, burning man is about the funnest thing...

Re: Mesh on my tent

It looked confusing, when I edited that statement, but I was answering a question. I am not a supporter of aluminet. Sorry for the confusion. After 12 burns, I stand by silver tarp 200%. Aluminet only makes the sun tolerable. I prefer total sun block. Yeah, a single layer of 70% aluminet is totally...

Re: Yurt sealed and Dust free

As long as you didn't set up on a dune, the playa is really flat. The thickness of the rug may act as an effective seal with the yurt firmly staked to it.

Re: hexayurt tie downs

Good convo, I think I am going to go for it with no intention to guy it. The reason I don't like the rope halo is it actually doesn't distribute the force over the whole roof, force is only applied where the rope is bent. I suspect it is entirely common for the rope to partly crush the foam in the r...

hexayurt tie downs

Hoping to build a hexayurt this year, and am planning to include a bunch of extra features. One idea I had was an integrated tie down. A 24" x 2" x 1" thick board is glued into the bottom of each foam wall, centered. The board has a 0.5" hole in it vertically, and a semicircle cut into the foam abov...

have step tickets to sell

Yes, I've left this down to the wire, but I have two spare tickets to resell into STEP. I was expecting to find a link to resell them, but as far as I can tell, I need to contact customer service and they will email me a link? Can I expect to get this link in time?

Re: Comparison to another first case of lottery.

There are certainly competing interests that need to be traded against each other in an improved ticketing system. I've seen good ideas in this thread. Its not possible to make a perfect system, but we can make it as painless as possible. BMORG values the flexibility in the ticketing system, but als...
