Re: Lag screws vs everything else...
I also used 21 14" 3/4 lag screws to hold the legs of my carport to the playa. Then I used the Figjam chain link trick to run rope over the carport and secured it with leg screws right into the playa. I used a Ryobi cordless impact driver. Putting them in, I used 1 fully charged battery, and about 5...

Re: Travel trailer, cargo trailer or.....
Great job Figjam. That looks great.
If I end up running into you on the playa I would love to see it.
Looks very comfy in there.

Re: Best Time to Arrive
I booked a room at the Lovelock Inn on Saturday Night. We see ourselves getting in there around 10PM maybe.
Let me know if any of you are getting a room there.

Re: Best Time to Arrive
Wanted to check if anyone has stayed in the city of Lovelock. Anything we should know?
We are thinking of stopping there the night before we head to the gate to get some sleep (coming from MN)

Re: Best Time to Arrive
So I think we have our arrival plan. We will be leaving MN on Friday night and driving through to the Lovelock Nugget Motel in Lovelock. We should arrive there Saturday night and we will sleep in a room until we wake up Sunday morning (no alarm setting). And then head to the burn from there (only 4 ...

Re: Ok, let's see 'em
Apparently we missed the delivery guy today, even though my wife was home the whole day. We think he just didn't bother coming to the door to get us to sign it. Too late to go pick it up tonight, just have to stare at the rectangle sheet of paper with "TicketFly" on it. Wife is picking it up tomorrow.

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...
Lag screws ordered! 3/8" x 14"
Pack of 50
Now I just need to go pick up my impact driver.
Then a test setup here at home with the car port. Need to figure out that X method people were talking about, so you don't have guy lines everywhere.
Thanks for this thread! Super helpful!

Re: Best Time to Arrive
Plans changed, heh. Plenty of responses and point well taken. Most of the time when we do drive through on our long road trips we stop to sleep somewhere. You guys bring up very valid points about sleepy drivers and that is something I don't like either. This will be our first year and we haven't ha...

Re: School Bus 101, long technical post
Here are 3 more. It's all we have at the moment. We are going to do a video walkthrough to really let people get an idea of it. My wife will head back to storage (where we have it at the moment) and take some more wide view pictures. Mind the mess, these were photos I took of the mess the people mad...

Re: School Bus 101, long technical post
Figured I would post our progress on our recent bus purchase. So in October I will be quitting my job and we will be driving around the country in our converted school bus. The bus we bought was already fully converted, and we will be making changes that we feel are needed. But it is nice to have it...

Re: Who wants to start an acoustic music camp?
We are bringing our doumbek and hoping to get into some drum jams or just jams in general. I will be carrying it on my back as we trek across the playa.
Now I just need to get better at it.

Re: Best Time to Arrive
We are going to leave St Paul MN on Saturday morning and drive straight through the 28 hr drive and that should put us there at some time on Sunday morning after 10am. So I think our timing will work out pretty well.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
We picked up our camp beds yesterday. Self-inflating foam beds. Won't take up much space on the drive down and will be pretty comfortable.

Got them in the return area at REI (it's nice to have a membership). Some great deals up there.

@FIGJAM
Nice!
This gets me in the mood to build something to bring to my first burn. Maybe I will just focus on getting our Bikes set for the playa. We have some time, I will see how the months go.

Re: Newbie - Seeking friends, hugs.
I am from Minnesota as well. In the twin cities. My wife ( Tuullii )and I will be heading down to burning man. This will be our first burn as well. We have our tickets and will be driving down there. The moderately unlikely plan was to have our bus bought by then and retrofitted to at least make it ...

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
My name is Dean and My Wife (Tuilli) and I will be making our voyage from MN out to Burning man this year if our ticket plans fallow through. We are planning on building our own Hexayurt and hopefully joining a theme camp with some fellow yogies. My wife is a Yoga Instructor (in training) and a Stud...
