Seeking ride for 2; Reno to BRC 8/26, return 9/3
Greetings potential driverpersons! We're a couple of east coasters lacking in the vehicle pass department and looking to make new friends. Our current plan is to arrive in Reno by plane really late Friday, run our errands all over town Saturday in a frenzy of last minute preparations (I'm going to r...

Re: The person below me
Don't we all? Flying vs driving vs train vs bus to Reno. Driving in vs bus vs plane to the event, which ties into tent vs box truck, To bike or not to bike, which style, should I mess with sending it across the country or just buy/rent in Reno. What do I want to do with my career. If its fun to thin...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Somewhat like Popeyes suggestion. Put your 11 cooler campers in a circle with the entrance to their structures facing out. Generator goes in the middle of the circle. (Honda 1000 should do it) Plug in a "smart charger" connected to 2 100AH batteries hooked in parallel. Replace the plugs on some pow...

Re: Virgin from Virginia First Burn
I rented a box truck and camped in the back rather than using a tent my first year. You'd be surprised how much of your camping kit can fit in luggage if you remove excess packaging and pack your clothes around them. I did all my grocery and last minute oh crap shopping in Reno before heading out. D...

Welcome to the forums, make yourself at home. Lurk and learn, and post some too. Looks like there's a decent burner community in your area, check in with some of the groups over on http://regionals.burningman.org/regiona ... /michigan/. Good luck with tickets, hope to see you in the dust!

Re: Virgin from Virginia First Burn
Greetings from a fellow Virginian, and welcome to eplaya! Remember to pace yourself and take breaks on that drive. As long as you have space to safely carry the shade structure on the way in you're fine. As for camping with/without a theme camp, 'better' is subjective. I had a blast going solo with ...

Re: Traveling From the East Coast
East coaster checking in! I went for the first time in 2012, finally going back for my second burn this year. I flew in to Reno and rented a box truck from the folks at the Budget on Gentry Way (burner friendly business, positive experience with them, would recommend) and just camped in the back. It...

Hello again! (account necromancy)
Greetings my burner family! I just resurrected my account from several years worth of mothballs, my last login before today was in 2013. I last (and first) attended the burn in 2012, then life happened and I moved, changed trades (electrical work is so much more fun than changing oil in cars ...

Like the title says, what do you listen to while waiting for tickets? Do you go for cheese songs? Do you have songs that remind you of the playa that are more personal? Do you just go for maximum oontz to get hype? so far on my list for this year I've got: Darude- Sandstorm: For cheese and oontz, bu...

Dear Eric,
I have a mild case of second year megalomania but cannot attend this year. So far I've recruited two virgin friends to join me at TTITD. Is it too early (or late) for us to start planning our theme camp, two mutant vehicles, awesome pimped out bikes, and two interactive art pieces?

DAMMIT BILL, 7 migraines with aura in 8 days. WHY!? The headaches aren't all that bad, even though they're persistent buggers, but do you really need to fuck with my vision and therefore ability to drive and operate machinery (a rather important part of being a mechanic) for 20-30 minutes at a time?

Change of plans, I think I'll be a soggy hurricane survivor, assuming I make it through tonight and tomorrow. I did have a new idea for party treats if I manage to keep power and decide to pull a party together. Homemade caramel apples with vanilla candy glass pieces drizzled with cherry syrup. Can'...

So we're meeting at the Hof? :? Hmmm sounds nice, but a 2500 mile bug out sounds rather iffy at best for moi. I'm concerned just making it 250 miles up north once the walls come down and the horde flee's Detroit. I know how you feel, I'm stuck way the fuck out on the eastern seaboard. Maybe we coul...

Re: the Don't Tell Me My Idea Is Crazy thread
So 2012 was my first year, and I've had one idea bouncing around in my head for around a year before I made it to the playa, two ideas that hit me while I was there, and one that came from a movie I saw the other day. First, and my highest priority (several years from now is my best guestimate for e...

Any self-respecting Indian taco would have beef or bacon in it. And lots of it. I thought I heard the ones for vegans were called Indian-giver tacos. Lucky me, my tacos don't respect themselves. :P And as far as indian giver tacos, yes, I expect an equivalent return on my tacos, in the form of the ...

spray on sunscreen is flamable
I saw a lot of spray on sunscreen out there, and wanted to give a heads-up to anyone who might not know this yet. Even when spray on sunscreen has dried, avoid open flame and other sources of ignition, it can ignite and ruin your day/burn. http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/chesapeake/spray-on-...
