Re: Stop Burning Man's Culture of Bicycle Thievery!!!

A bike theft camp might bring some awareness. Could also do a bootleg sting operation, with GPS-tracked bikes, and the camp's "bike police" hunting down the perpetrators. Might get the Rangers and LE focused on the issue, if only to avoid the problems they see with the camp. Their lack of doing the...

Note Bene

It should be noted that all confessions to the Minister will be strictly private and confidential. Also, the sacramental red wine served will have no alcohol content, and the camp will be chock full of fluffy little kittens. 8)

Re: camp counts

I put the placed camps list into a spreadsheet and counted 658 placed camps. 130 rejected camps means that about 1/6 of the total camp submissions were rejected. That's pretty steep. Those are the stats for the NUMBER of camps. It would be nice to know the AREA of the camps that were placed, and th...

I don't really understand the bias against camps where a core team of 10-20 people builds a structure that is shared and enjoyed by 100+ campers, who are contributing a wide range of other things to our camp and to BRC in general. Having help with their personal shelter/shade could mean that they s...

Frack no! We should all sleep under our cars; that morning sun sucks.

BTW, RVs suck. Did that one year. Not the same experience. Never again.

Bedroom camps? You mean villages like Hushville? Larger camps that appear to be blossoming bedroom communities that are simply adding space to accommodate more campers, but no more interactivity have become very difficult for us to place. OK, so the term they used was bedroom "communities," but tha...

Reserved Wasted Space

I suspect that the primary criteria was the RATIO of public interaction space and activity to the gross size requested. They could have increased the reserved area to place all the camps, but that might let some "bedroom" camps in with more space than they could otherwise command. Also, if only 70% ...

Jedis, zombies, drunks..."a man can be happy with any woman as long as he does not love her." Unconditional love is another way of saying that you no longer have any expectations of the relationship - you cannot be disappointed. You have given up on getting anything out of the relationship, which c...

I keep thinking about how cool it would be if -- picture a queen bee at the center of her hive -- someone (Kristy or Iso or Don Muerto or whoever) would become the center of a giant fuck fractal expanding out in all directions across the playa. KK

If you guys (and gals) don't believe KK, that's up to you. She sounds like a very interesting person. I just don't appreciate snowboarders. Perhaps allowances can be made; after all, the BM site is pretty flat. Her curves should add to quality of the terrain.

For the SLC basin, my favorite is Alta. All the SLC places are closer than Denver or Tahoe. 8)
