Re: Fears for tiers
.... It seemed to me to be more about offering an incentive to people to buy tickets many months in advance ... Bingo! I think that's all it has ever been about. If I remember correctly, they almost went bankrupt in 98 and didn't know if they would be coming back in 99. Maybe it had something to do...

Re: Cheap Booze?
I always thought that there is usually an overabundance of alcohol, and not enough mixers to make it palatable? I Agree with you BBadger, I always end up bringing back the hard stuff. I like Gin & Tonic for myself, but found bars don't want tonic water. What mixers are the most popular on the playa...

Re: The Pier
What I loved about the Pier is that it could only make sense at Burning Man. Can't believe how much fun I had on it. Everyone seem to get it instantly. Never seen such a great interactive crowd in years and this is coming from a 14 year jaded veteran.... Please bring it back next year. THANK YOU !!!

Great place to write a paper about. It's so full of contradictions...trying to fulfill so much and on the very edge of failing at everything. I like to call it "barely-controlled chaos". Emile Durkheim would love this place. The cult of the individual and the greater good of the society battling it...

It was my understanding that electric bikes weren't allowed unless you registered them, either as a ranger, mutant vehicle, or handicapped. I know some of the examples above are for handicapped, but are the others registered, just sneaky, or not disallowed and I have a misunderstanding of the rules...

Thanx for the update goathead.. I've done 8A from Vya to Denio many times. Beautiful country. And already know you may have to give up an hour or two helping out on a cattle drive here and there. Hell of lot easier sitting in my van blasting the horn and blinking the headlights than being stuck in t...

Every thing dragonpilot said... It's not a bad road, a bit bumpy in places, but has improved over the last ten years that I have been using it. I did it once at night and almost hit a BLACK angus bull (yes, bigger than a fucking vw bus as dragonpilot put it) It is open range and I will never do it a...

Hey madmatt, That was an excellent Theme Camp. Send my kudos to whoever designed it and the crew who put it together! What I was most impressed with was the openess of it. So many others seem like private clubs with lines outside to get in or not very illuminated. You had several entrances and it fe...

Hey. diane o'thirst The one thing that really sticks out about '98 was the performance art, interactively and possibly the best year ever....period! KnowMatterWhat, Thanks for bringing up this topic. I hate to see more rules implemented. I agree that a decorated flagpole on a bike helps thwart unintentional gifting of your bike, but is also handy when you go looking for it too amongst a 100 other bikes. I hid my gas cans under the truck and then wrap some old tarps around them to disguise em. out of site, out of mind.. On Burn night...
