Re: Beef Jerky
Yes, of course you can't really control the quality if you buy it already cooked. Especially the sodium. On the other hand, organic meat is expensive, and for someone who does not have the experience of cooking beef jerky..it's taking the risk of wasting good meat! I'm willing to spend money on good...

Re: Beef Jerky
I tried to make some with wasabi powder, soy and lemon pepper....the taste was OK+. However, I don't master the art of drying it in an oven, so it was way too dry and crispy... I figured out that you have to check the dryness of the meat more often.. Dunno if I want to take the risk to cook some mor...

Re: What would you do if this happened to you?
I think you made the good decision in buying the tickets. Maybe you can ask to split the payback into several payments..? Once it's done, you don't forget to tell her/him that it was not cool to ask for money afterwards... She will think about it, maybe apologize or try to find a compromise, and you...

Re: Amtrak to Burning Man? (reno)
Thank you guys for your opinions and advises on AmTrack... I chose AmTrack because it was my only affordable option. It is true that I am used to use the European rail which is more reliable. However, even if we have some delays, we'll make it !! Thanks for the warning, but I prefer to think, and it...

Savannah, Eric, Cryptofishist,
I understand your point. I saw "Burning Man Food Tip" and did not think further, my apologies for that.
I'm not used to communicate on forums. I'll read more about the protocoles.
Thanks for your responses anyways.
Take care

Re: BMFT: Chunky soup
Are you saying that I should not bring any dry MEAT if I do not have a cooler? Your suggestion would be only canned meat, canned fish, and even canned almonds.. Makes perfect sense actually, thanks again for the tips !! Bring what you will eat. Better to have to do a little extra (and jerky isn't e...

Re: BMFT: Chunky soup
If you read the thread . . . . . . you will see that many people recommend dried meat. It's fine. Dried, canned, vacuum-sealed, etc. So, go read the thread! If you have questions, ask in that thread. It will bump the thread to the top of the Food forum for others with questions like yourself. I was...

Hey Guys ! Regarding the food, I would need some tips. I can't bring any cooler, and the only tank to put my food for a week will be my bag. I'm planning to bring dry fruits (grapes, prunes,...), almonds, cereal bars (a lot), and dry meet. Is it possible to keep this kind of food in good conditions ...

Re: Amtrak to Burning Man? (reno)
Hola ! Very nice to see that we'll be able to meet in the train ! Anyone coming from FLL as well ? Just checked for a "room" for CHI ==> REN, it is kind of expensive: I have to add $382 on top. More expensive than the whole trip... However, the trip being 44 hours, we can have 12 people sharing this...
