Re: Did you build a (Figjam) bucket cooler??
I built one for Burning Man 2013 it felt so sinfully good that I had to build a second one so I could have two at Burning Man 2014!

Re: Adjustable mount for solar panels?
I mad a stand for my solar panel out of some old satellite mount parts that were laying around. The best thing was after taking out a few bolts it all stored flat. Here are a few pictures, it worked great during the burn! I ran eight 18" lag bolts through the frame and into the playa. It never even ...

Re: Improvements & Upgrades to the FIGJAM bucket evap. coole
I did a few mods to the FIGJAM bucket cooler before my last burn. I added an evap cooler float (the kind used on house evap coolers) the float valve stuck out the side of the bucket and I could attach a hose to a second bucket that would sit on a stand to be higher, so the force of gravity would sen...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Another plus of a bucket cooler is the dust filter effect. I ran two bucket coolers and lived almost dust free in my 14' dome the entire burn! Try that with an AC unit, plus playa dust inside of an AC sounds like a shortened life $$$.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
Just finished my first FIGJAM bucket cooler! That should make catching a nap during the day possible. I started on the second one and will finish that one tomorrow. Yes, I know TWO? I have a 14 ft dome and want to make sure I can keep it cool enough (I want to be able to entertain at high noon). My ...

Yahoo! Just finished washing off and patching up the last tarp I used as ground cover!
Now onto upgrades for my Dome (better cover and lighting). I did rebuild a bucket cooler a few days ago, works great now.

Re: Playa Tested Greywater Evaporator
You could try cheese cloth or burlap, that will retain the water better and maybe even wick some water up from the pool when the pump is off. On the other hand it could also act as a sail in the winds.

Re: Radiant Barrier Foil to Tarp Adhesion!
I'm testing gluing space blanket material to a tarp right now (not going to burning man this year  ). I'm putting the space blanket on the outside of the tarp to reflect the heat, then I'll use an inner wall to help funnel the heat that does get through out the top of the dome. I've had some go...

How about the first defense nasal filters? Haven't tried then yet, but I've heard people rave about them.

OK I'm going to try and post a picture here (fingers crossed) http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r615/Az_James/DSC00005.jpg After I flattened one end I put it in the jig (which was the same height as the curb) http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r615/Az_James/DSC00004.jpg Now I can flatten the othe...

I would think goop would work better as it would still be kind of flexible when dry. Just make sure it will not interfere with your brakes.

Today I cut ten more lengths of conduit for my dome home on the playa. I flattened the ends and will be drilling the holes in a few days. Then I'll put it together and start on the cover.

Re: Question about bike locks
Just take the seat off when not in use & replace it with a pin cushion. Seriously thiugh, I just picked up a cable combo lock with a built in light. I hadn't thought of that. Now the question is will the dust destroy the lock? Will WD40 be enough to keep it working? Where did you get the cable comb...

Re: Building Domes? (EMT, Geodesic, 3V)
People talk about problems flattening the ends and buy or use some kind of press. I made a jig to help me mark the same distance from the cut ends then I went out to the curb and pounded the ends flat. I'll post a picture if a second jig I designed to make sure the flats were on the same level.

If the weather REALLY sucks this year it may scare off some sparkle ponies next year = more tickets for burners. Just a thought....

I'm a new Burner and couldn't get a ticket this year
. But I plan to do it up right next year. I've already started my prep so, by this time next year I'll be sitting back relaxing while everyone else does the panic prep.
