Re: Third Party Tickets
I have been dying to attend the event for years now but have been unable to secure a ticket to the event. In this years sale I clicked the purchase link just 15 seconds after startup time and they were already sold out. I understand how difficult these tickets can be to obtain. My question is what ...

Tricky for the people abroad. I'm on the lookout for some friends in Asia, as they've got no hope of finding anything locally.DeanisGatsby wrote:I've personally found it true in NYC and the Bay Area, and seen friends have the same experience abroad.

Re: It's.... The 2017 Main Sale Excitement & Congrats Thread!
Our camp got ZERO tickets so far. Wow. We've usually scored about 50% of what we needed in the main sale, doesn't look like we'll get even close to that this time. We bring art projects and volunteer around, but we're not a registered camp, so no DGS tickets. Well... I'm a registered (non-theme) ca...

Re: Ticket Questions from a Virgin
If the only data stored is the last 4 numbers of a credit card number how is it possible to recall client information at a later date? They wouldn't actually have to store all of the numbers. A one-way hash of the card number would enable them to check whether the same card was being used for multi...

Re: It's.... The 2017 Main Sale Excitement & Congrats Thread!
Kinda weird... I got in just as all tickets were in carts. I kept refreshing...sometimes with one available, sometimes not. Rather than risk it, I only tried to get 1 ticket as it popped up as opposed to 2. So, I walked away with one ticket and no VP. I guess I can always walk. So, still one to go o...

Re: New One on Me - The Ebay Scalpers go one step further
Yes, they can, and will. Probably have, as a matter of fact. Those things are left on Ebay for ages. All they have to do is look up the access code, see if it was sold on Ebay, match it to the order, and invalidate it. The codes mean jack though -- I'm sure some gullible people will get sucked in th...

Re: 2017 Ticket Waiting Room??
If it works like it's supposed to, the waiting room is from 13:30 to 13:59:59. at 14:00, those in the waiting room are randomly put in line. People jumping in line after 14:00:00 are put at the back of the queue (fucked, basically). Last years glitch put those people in the front of the queue. They ...

Worth a shot -- cheers.BBadger wrote:Put some notes in with the forms to indicate what the fields mean. Don't count on anyone being able to decipher foreign tax forms, or finding someone who can. The easier you make it on them, the greater chance they'll take the effort to consider the form.

Low Income Application for Burners Abroad
Howdy I have a friend that should at least apply for a Low Income ticket, but their last couple of years were abroad, in a non-english speaking country. As such, tax forms and whatnot would not be in English (w/o a translation). A Professional one can get pricey... maybe there are forms on the inter...

Re: Will Call Name Change and Early Entry 2016
Might as well ask here:
Is the method for splitting Will Call (eg, person #2 comes at a later time than person #1) still for the first to arrive to claim the order, and change the name so the second person can pick up later. Anyone have any experience with this working (or not)?

Re: Dome Dwellers: Tell me your flooring solutions
Thanks... these all seem like good ideas. When I was thinking of DIY'ing a square tarp, it would seem like cutting your own holes would be asking for trouble (rips in the wind?) but grommets and such could help. The painters cloth seems like a good idea but I'm wanting something that I can sweep eas...

Re: Help with DIY cold wear
I have made vests the last couple of years, without a pattern. Pretty easy stuff, can keep you warm enough on most years. Last year? No way -- you (I, anyway) needed a coat. Finally made my own, after the fur sat cut on my floor for months. I used McCalls 5092 patterns. It's not as straight forward ...

Dome Dwellers: Tell me your flooring solutions
I'll cut to the chase: I have an 18' dome (shelter systems). Between the dust/wind last year, me not figuring out to hook the doors, and my attempt at using a square tarp in a circular dome, me and my roomies were awarded "shittiest tent in the camp" award. Can't have that two years in a row. Looks ...

I had an up-cycled, fleece-lined vest w/ a big pimpin' fur collar. Got it on Etsy. Was pretty reluctant due to the cost but it was so worth it. It made it to three burns with me and I was the bell of the ball. Since then, it has vanished. I digress... I hope it found a good home.

Been saying this for a couple of years. We dropped our stuff and partied where we were. I though...

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)
I'm a technical person and was well prepared on a fast computer and pretty much the fastest Internet connection you can get, but still got through to the ticket store just after the last tickets went.. Unfortunately that really doesn't matter. How technically do you need to be to refresh a browser?...

Re: Eating Healthy Food at Burning Man
Last year about half of my meals consisted of Tabouleh wraps from Trader Joe's. A bunch of my food spoiled at the hand of my own dumb assery, but to be honest I was addicted to that shit. Super light, but healthy. Got me through most of the days.

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)
I wouldn't want the line transferred to STEP. It would take all hope from those who couldn't participate in the main sale. Bad luck shouldn't be carried over. There's really no objective right answer to this, but I'd prefer to think that luck favors the prepared. Being prepared and following all th...
