Re: OK, who else is going to Afrikaburn?

This will be my first AfrikaBurn as well. I'm commenting to see if others turn up in this thread! I've joined half a dozen related Facebook groups for more info, but I'm specifically looking for people who know the survival/packing differences between the playa and Tankwa. Like I guess we ...

Re: 6:00 Neighborhood Camps

We do have a group who will be running the Zip-Line with suspension hooks in their backs... would you be interested in expanding your... horizons?    And in other news, Dreamers Guild, the Temple build crew, will be camped at 6:45 & Ersatz! :-D I hope to bring out my sw...

Re: Fundraiser: Temple of Promise

Our crew has made incredible progress on the build and we are on schedule to finish construction, but we still need more funds. We now have TWO fundraisers going on to help raise those last badly needed dollars. The main way you can help is to please visit our IndieGoGo page: http://igg.me/at/temple...

Re: Changes to federal crowd-funding rules

The question is whether any project would want to go through the SEC paperwork to sell and manage shares as a IPO corporation. I would assume that the profiteers especially wouldn't want to do that, as the cost of the paperwork on top of paying dividends would really cut into their profits. :twiste...

Re: Explosions at Burning Man

One of the largest 2014 explosions. Nuclear Dream-and I was on the front row with my video camera. Things get real interesting after the six second mark. http://youtu.be/HN8AiTQMP5E I helped work the perimeter for that! Exactly what I thought of when I saw the phobia post. Most people had NO idea t...

Re: Burning Man Planning - Dates

The Temple burns on Sunday night. Since I'm helping build it, I'd be really sad if anyone missed it! Seriously, usually a person's connection to the Temple is what makes them decide if they stay for it burning. Like if a loved one has passed away this year, or you find the structure itself especiall...

Re: Seeking tips for taming long hair on the playa

I'm going to resurrect this thread because I couldn't find an adequate new one. I took the advice below last year (silicone lube: Gun Oil) and it was SO much better than coconut oil! Definitely try it! I was even able to still wear it down on the 7th day, which in the past has become when it ceases ...

Re: Fundraiser: Temple of Promise

Oh, don't worry, those without experience are the integral team of people building the perimeter, which will be several sizes of boulders made out of curved wood. We are bending, gluing, and clamping wood all day, every day - and you can learn that in just a few minutes. There's even now a video on ...

Fundraiser: Temple of Promise

This year's Burning Man temple, The Temple of Promise , will be a completely unique and organic temple experience. Check out the design images on our webpage here: http://templeofpromise.org/ It is both humbling and gratifying to be involved in a project that will touch so many lives. However, it is...

Re: The Temple Of Promise

Resurrecting this post to say that the Temple build is now in full swing and we'd looooove to get more Bay Area people helping. The build is going on in Alameda 7 days a week, noon to 10pm. Drop by anytime - plenty of work for people with no experience whatsoever! I can't imagine how amazing it will...

Re: Wiccan/Pagan presence on the Playa

I've been pagan (traditional witchcraft, not wicca) for about 25 years and a burner for only 4, but I see very little overlap myself. The few exceptions being ecstatic dancing (trancing out w/o substances) and the energy raising that goes on with some of the fires being lit. I think it feels pagan t...

Re:

Jerkey & PBR. This will be my second time at BM and speaking of BM's, how do you veterans get enough fiber on the playa?? I'm also one of the lazy no-cookers and pretty much hate veggies, but I'm open to ideas. Last year I took fiber supplements when I remembered, did the instant extra-fiber oatmea...
