I have heard - second hand - that according to those that were in 4th of Juplaya , this year the playa is full with dunes and thick sand/dust areas, and biking will be almost impossible as one gets stuck very frequently. Basically saying - leave your bike at home.
Is this indeed the situation?

I found these in my local Walmart for $11: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-ATV-Goggles-Black/16777859 Inexpensive, and on first look seems as good as other options. - anyone with experience using these? - I would like to use goggles over my glasses, or optical sunglasses. Re: cooling your tent or van
I am looking at a setup of a dome tent (about 9' floor) under a Costco car port (10x20 feet). I thought of building Figjam's 5gal bucket cooler to cool the tent; I assume the cooler should be just outside of the tent, with the cool air pipes short as possible. What I am not sure about: The bucket co...

Re: Carports - how to anchor/reba, and improvements
TomServo, - Looking at your drawing, the canopy is held only by the duct tape attaching it to the T-post. Is this correct? Is the duct tape strong enough to hold it in strong wind ? ... I have no experience, did not realize duct tape adhesive would be that strong. - Will this work with Rebar instead...

Covering tent mesh
I try to figure out the best way to seal the mesh in my 4 person dome tent. Looking at some posts possible solution is clamping a blanket or a sheet over the mesh areas of the tent. - what would be better, a fleece blanket or just an old sheet? Do simple sheets block the dust? - is it a must to get ...

Carports - how to anchor/reba, and improvements
I consider using a Costco carport, and a dome tent under it. How does one anchor the carport? I presume re-bars at the corner poles - but how do the poles attached to the rebars? Or should one use guy lines in addition? Those with carport experience please chime in. Also: - The side tarps do not rea...

Car and playa dust
I have an 8 years old SUV which was kept very well - metallic paint, leather seats, looks almost like new. - Should I worry about the playa dust harming it? (... that is a permanent damage, anything that a thorough car wash and vacumming will not repair). - To what extent will covering the engine ar...

Also there is a selection at http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/searc ... le+battery including some at the $80-90 range - but I cannot decipher the specs and understand the capacity, and how those compare to the more expensive ones.

Re: cooling your tent or van
I plan building a bucket cooler. Could I have some guidance regarding batteries and related equipment if needed (charger, inverter, controller, solar charger....)? What to look for, or specific items I need that will work well and will not break the bank ? My starting point: From this thread I gathe...

- I have a very old computer I am throwing away, and thought of using the fan. Should this be sufficient, or one needs to go for newer fans which have high flow capacity?
- This all brings a general question - how sensitive is the design to pump capacity, and fan capacity?

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hi guys, a couple of questions: - I understand the solar pump http://www.harborfreight.com/solar-powe ... 66093.html was used in a number of contraptions. Is it used with its own solar panel, or connected to the 12V battery? It does not have specs, and I suspect if I try the solar panel but have bat...
