Re: 7:30 Neighborhood Camps

Shots for Shocks will be at 7:30 and C for an electrifying second year! Come by for Shocktails and Zappy Hour to experience the cattle prod and get a taste of our refreshing handmade infusions! We'll also be hosting an Erotic Cigar Social on Tuesday and Friday evenings, and a Shirt-strapping bar cra...

Re: Disclaimers for dangerous activities

One of this year's camp offerings will be cattle prod and stun gun tastings. We've done enough research (both academic, and, well, experiential) to feel confident in an incredibly low risk. Much lower than the Thunder Dome, I'll tell you that :-) Since informed consent is incredibly important to us,...

Re: Braids for the playa

Sunny D - Mine did great last year, but I didn't shower. If your hair is braided, you probably won't want to shampoo it anyway, just rinse it out. You may even be grateful for the scalp oils in the dryness! Your mileage may vary, of course.

Re: pee funnel alternative

There's also the "Go Girl," and a few other brands. I like the Go Girl because it's made of silicone, so it molds to your body quite nicely. Plus you can boil it or put it in an autoclave. Hooray for pee funnels!

Re: Where to buy prescription goggles?

Seconding Zenni, plus you can buy a pair or two of "back-up" glasses to take with you so you don't have to worry about your more expensive everyday glasses. I also just ordered a pair of oversized prescription sunglasses from CheapGlasses123.com . I'm excited to have a glamorous pair of sunglasses! ...

Re: Collapsible Water Carrier Recommendations?

The brand we used is called Reliance Fold-A-Carrier.

Ooh! Looks like I can buy that brand in-town at REI. Maybe I'll pick one up tomorrow and punt it around the yard a bit, see how it holds up. Worst comes to worst, it's a $10 water balloon to drop on the neighbor cat ;-)

Re: Collapsible Water Carrier Recommendations?

Yeah, I read that one. Yikes! My ride is an RV with 6 other people (and all their gear, with 4 of us tent camping). It's pretty impressive how much the careful tetris packing of 7 people can expand in one week on the playa. The more I can condense as I consume, the better. If I can't find something ...

Collapsible Water Carrier Recommendations?

I'd love to be able to pack in all my water in collapsible carriers so they will take less space when I leave. However, all the ones I'm looking at on Amazon have three stars or less, and all the negative reviews list leaks and split seams :-( Given the nature of Burning Man I need a product I can t...

Re: Meals, Ready to Eat?

My camp and I ate the entrees a lot last year. They're nice because they're calorie-dense (and when you don't want to eat, making every bite count is important). Also, if you're in a group you can cook for everyone with one pot of water and no dishes! Backpacking meals can be delicious as well, but ...
