Re: 1500 Gallon Water Tank Outlet Connection
Garden hoses are manufactured using chemicals and processes that are not intended for drinking water. The plastics are not guaranteed to be BPA-free, and it turns out it's much easier to machine brass if you add a bit of lead. In fact, I looked up the splitter you posted and it also contains lead. Y...

Re: Brainy Bar 2022 - located at 3:00 in G Plaza!
They're talking about the thin radials in the outer streets at :15 and :45, the rings around the plazas at 9, 7:30, 6, 4:30 and 3 are not discussed. They are talking about replacing most of the T-intersection radials with narrow paths, but leaving some of them as full roads near 9, 6, and 3. That al...

Re: 2022 One Item A Day For Burning Man
Bought some RV water tanks and gravity filler hatch to build into my moving truck. Bought an old moving truck for $1000 in 2019 and did a bunch of work on it, camped with it, planned to sell it afterward....never did. Pretty glad about that now.

Re: Brainy Bar 2022 - located at 3:00 in G Plaza!
They mention those rings in the city plan. Those are are pedestrian bike pathways, I believe. Too narrow for MV's, emergency vehicles or any other larger thing, just bikes and peds. No, the rings aren't mentioned. Just the narrow paths at the :15 and :45 positions, which are still drawn with double...

Re: What happens if you have stewards sale tickets and your camp is a toxic mess?
Build your shit to the letter of the request and no more, ignore anything dumb you see happening in the rest of the camp. Then go to Burning Man and have a good time. Use the camp as a place to sleep and then go find your real friends. If the camp is pissed off you're not acting like part of the gro...

I am very excited to announced that Brainy Bar has been placed! We will be located in the 3:00 & G Plaza. Congrats, great placement! Space Goats just got placed in the 7:30 & A plaza. Do you know what's up with that 500 foot circle around the plazas this year? The central holes are still 200 feet a...

Re: Where to set up camp if not in theme camp?
Welcome to ePlaya. The only difference between your camp and a theme camp is probably some paperwork and work access passes for early entry. That ship has sailed, so your other option is to look for open camping within the city. The best way to do that is to get in as early as you can Sunday morning.

Those mag slots and chip reader seem to fail pretty often inside a Kohl's. I wonder how they'll hold up to corrosive playa dust ground in with sweaty credit cards?

If you use normal LED strip for this, count on it to fail. Designed to be installed behind the letters of store's sign in a mall. Not designed to be flexed in every direction several times per minute. Even a good solution with individual stiff PCBs linked by silicone wire will eventually fail, it's ...

Well, of all the things WD40 is used for, spraying onto bare metal to displace water and leave a protective residue is probably the closest to the intended purpose.

Re: I still don't understand blue flags and placed vs. unplaced
We'll be a small camp around 7 & B and have some extra space. Since we ran into the no-space problem in open camping last year, we will not hunt for campers online but instead go to the outer rings on Sunday or Monday and try to find some lost-looking awesome people to invite.

One of ours was UPS Expedited versus UPS Innovations. The UPS Innovations for our own tickets arrived in the mailbox, no tracking number beforehand (it did appear a few days after delivery). Later, the UPS Expedited shipment for our friend's ticket did arrive via an actual UPS dropoff. While the tic...

I used to drive down from Portland. From Seattle you could take 97 all the way down to Klamath Falls. But I'd probably just take I-5 down to 58, then 97 into Klamath Falls. Portland is the only major city anyway, and it's not terrible to pierce through on 5 unless there's a bridge lift. You'll make ...

"UPS Innovations" means UPS takes it and gives it to the post office. So it'll appear in your mailbox.

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...
It doesn't require power tools. Last year we did a fairly minimal camp and only needed 10 or 12 lag screws. I used a T-handle wrench and a 30" extension, and it was actually too easy. Will just use a speed wrench next time, the T-handle leverage isn't needed. Basically you want to figure out how to ...

At some point during negotiations you may realize that you are expending all the effort to try to understand the other side's conc...

We're going to do it, having been stuck in the same situation last year.
Definitely starts with a "welcome to the city, how's it going" conversation and ends with either "well good luck" or "does that spot in our camp work" depending on the answers.

Back to the point, though - the lead placer for the 4:30 sector recently stated on FB that their belief is that the new geometry will open more blocks up for open camping, because they will be able to pack more theme camps into the inner (and now deeper) streets. Open camping was almost completely full after Sunday last year. We came in late and there was a sign after Greeters saying that anything 6:00 and up was completely full, don't even try it. We turned right and spent hours driving up and down the streets and a few false starts before we found a spot d...
