Re: Segways in Burning Man

Just sayin'. I saw I guy on one of these in 2016 and had the following thought processes: 1) Wow! 2) F*** that entitled bastard 3) But damn that's cool and silent and he's actually riding it, with all the risk that entails. 4) I'm getting one! So I got one, took it to Juplaya and it rocked. Took it ...

Re: What means of transport would survive on the playa other than a bike?

I know this may be difficult to swallow, but this thing is simply the most ridiculously appropriate winningest flipping funfest. I tested it at Juplaya and it simply rocked. It rocked the entire Burn without a single issue. I got to the point where I couldn't be troubled to walk halfway across camp....

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Alright here's a set of videos to recap the Sextant 2017 cycle as it pertains to ground anchors. A basic observation is that although the corded, brushed Makita TW-1000 has a slightly lower rated torque (738 ft-lbs) vs the cordless, brushless Makita XWT07Z LXT (780 ft-lbs), the TW-1000 seems to deli...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

With an 18 inch lag, my 550 ft/lb impact was struggling to turn it for the last two inches. There seems to be a disproportionate increase in drive power required after about 14-15 inches. I use a 780 ft-lb cordless Makita. It's worked for: 3/8x14 1/2x18 3/4x24 ...and 1.75x36 custom (took a while :m...

I go to Juplaya and GPS my way to the exact point we met, then wait fervently for my Sexy Playa Goddess to come at me from the horizon, riding the front of the Christina, to sweep me away to infinite bliss and glory.

Re: Electric Vehicle Charging

My OneWheel was absolutely awesome this year. I tested it at Juplaya before deciding to bring it. We create a buried power grid based off of a 25 kw diesel whisperwatt that we rent. That runs clean, quiet, and all week long with daily fuel deliveries from the good people of HELL. Our neighbors had o...

I am incredibly honored to own this painting by Greg of the Sextant Tesla Coil and the Man burning from 2015.

Greg is an amazing artist and a class act. If you have the means, I highly recommend going for it!

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

This is an unfinished project until I see a T-rex drill one of those anchors into the ground with stubby little arms. Any way that might be possible? You know, maladroit, there are certain things in this world that are simply a bridge too far to ask for. In what theme camp could that even happen???

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Sextant traditionally utilizes the corded, brushed, Makita TW-1000 , rated at 738 ft-lbs . It works great with the PE26 and struggles with the PE46 penetrators . For our custom anchors, we are hoping to see the TW-1000 be effective in our 36" prototype seen above. The cordless, brushless Makita...

Re: Where can I buy Burning Man themed jewelry?

I make BM jewelry and pendants, but here's the rub: They're not for sale. We are allowed to use these as fundraiser rewards for our BM projects, but we have to be very careful about not going down the slippery slope. Typically we do a targeted fundraiser with a crowdfunding website so all transactio...

Regionals suck. That's rather presumptuous of you to declare that all regionals suck. Have you been to Midburn or AfrikaBurn? I haven't, but I hear they're pretty fucking fantastic. Now, maybe the Northwest regionals do suck. I wouldn't know. I haven't been. Well no, I haven't been to those. Afrika...

Certainly, but butthurt is not a BRC principle or value. That can be voiced elsewhere, even here in the politics thread. You clearly didn't go down the big slide in 09. Butthurt was definitely indoctrinated. http://uprightandstowed.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341cab4853ef0120a569eaf6970b-500wi Oh, SNAP! A...

We need the values and principles of Black Rock City now more than ever.

Well here we all are. Divided, conquered. Diced up into little interest groups and set falsely against each other. Set against each other by an establishment so arrogant and so blind that it couldn't stop a buffoon on an opportunistic rampage. So what do we do now? I look towards a city on a hill. (...

What compressor and what air impact?

The electric Makita maxes out at 738 ft-lbs, which is inadequate on the 46" penetrator.

How much torque do you have?
