Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

krly, The reason nobody answered this question when you wrote it on the other thread is...What the F-----? You would need lag screws 4 feet long . I suggest you find the posts that led you to this conclusion and ask those people directly. Then please come back here and share it with us. I want pict...

As a nod to Freezer Burn, I was so taken with the FWF (Freezer Burn Wrestling Federation) that I decided to create the character Abraslam Lickin' , to go North and give these Extraordinary Albertans a run for the big belt! https://i.imgur.com/1w3oG2Nl.jpg https://youtu.be/nMfPkTf4mMw

Sextant seems to appreciate the following hazards:

High Voltage via the Tesla Coil
High Altitude via the Tower
High Velocity via the Zip-Line
High Alcohol content via vünderbar

Re: Placement for 1st year camp

A good theme camp does not spring from a group wanting to get placed and have WAP, it springs from a group who have a terrific idea and decide it would be best accomplished as a placed camp. This is key. My first year with Sextant could basically have been described as "Scary Zip-Line". T...

Re: Placement for 1st year camp

Disclosure: I am just some guy that runs a theme camp. I am not a member of Placement. Take line of salt. Is it easy for a camp to be placed on its first year? Yes. Most theme camp applications get placed, but only if you are actually taking the definition of what a theme camp is to heart. Theme ca...

Re: Dome Workshop Project

My advice is: 1) Do your best to get accurate hole-to-hole spacing. 2) Add approximately 1/16 of an inch or 1.5 mm over the actual size of the bolt when you define the size of your hole. You do need some clearance, but you also want to avoid a cascade of tolerances due to gravity that will make your...

Re: The 2017 Bah—Humbug! Thread, where we deal with Depression and Stuff

My wife left just before BM2017. It's been a hard fucking two years. I question everything I'm doing here constantly, and often wonder if I'm doing more harm than good in this community. I'm about ready to stop making excuses for myself and just get over it, but it turns out that's really hard. It's...

So I got one, took it to Juplaya and it rocked. Took it ...

Re: What means of transport would survive on the playa other than a bike?

I know this may be difficult to swallow, but this thing is simply the most ridiculously appropriate winningest flipping funfest. I tested it at Juplaya and it simply rocked. It rocked the entire Burn without a single issue. I got to the point where I couldn't be troubled to walk halfway across camp....

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Alright here's a set of videos to recap the Sextant 2017 cycle as it pertains to ground anchors. A basic observation is that although the corded, brushed Makita TW-1000 has a slightly lower rated torque (738 ft-lbs) vs the cordless, brushless Makita XWT07Z LXT (780 ft-lbs), the TW-1000 seems to deli...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

With an 18 inch lag, my 550 ft/lb impact was struggling to turn it for the last two inches. There seems to be a disproportionate increase in drive power required after about 14-15 inches. I use a 780 ft-lb cordless Makita. It's worked for: 3/8x14 1/2x18 3/4x24 ...and 1.75x36 custom (took a while :m...

Re: Electric Vehicle Charging

My OneWheel was absolutely awesome this year. I tested it at Juplaya before deciding to bring it. We create a buried power grid based off of a 25 kw diesel whisperwatt that we rent. That runs clean, quiet, and all week long with daily fuel deliveries from the good people of HELL. Our neighbors had o...
