So long, and thanks for all the Fire
It looks like my long ride at Burning Man has come to a close, so I've decided it's time for my tenure as a Mod here on our playa-on-the-web to come to a close as well. I've made an unbelievable amount of lifelong friends through ePlaya and Burning Man, and though there will be changes in where I se...

Re: reporting a bike theft
If nothing else, this thread may get transfered into lost & found sub forum once that opens. If it was decorated, perhaps you have a photo of that you can add. This thread will definitely get moved into the Lost Bikes subforum once that opens. If edfine has pictures of the bike, they should be post...

Re: LnF.burningman.org/ is closed? Where do I report lost items?
Most members of the Org are still on playa, and they're dealing with thousands of items. They do an absolutely amazing job reuniting people with their stuff, but it's going to take a few days for them to start showing up on the Orgs LnF page. The ePlaya LnF boards will be active once the admins are ...

Mod Note: I've made this a "sticky" until the Lost & Found boards are set up. I really want to reiterate one thing Canoe posted: Don't expose or dox yourself (if a lost item) or another person (if a found item)!!!! Keep personal information to PMs (other than possibly a partial name as it appears on...

Re: Lost & Found forums will open soon
There will be - it's only Monday, as far as I know I'm the only Mod not on the playa and all the Admins are still out there. It usually takes a little bit to get the forums open. We'll sort the existing posts once they're set up (should happen shortly after Trilo's back home, he is a theme camp lead...

Re: 2019 Satellite Sunday BRC for finding open camping spots
"Satellite Sunday" Is it expected/known that someone(s) will be tasking satellites for photos on Sunday each year? Unless that someone is paying for the satellite to shoot the event, they shouldn't expect anything. Some years I've seen it posted that a satellite company is shooting it (or having a ...

You can also check out the annual "Playa Lingo" columns from both the BRC Weekly and from Piss Clear - we've been documenting the way Burners talk for over 20 years between the two papers.

Unless they can collect the stupid tax, the LEO's aren't really concerned. Don't know if they're harassing more this year since I'm in Camp Envy as well, but in my experience is all about the dollars.

No comment on the lottery idea, since I was a Mod when that was tried the first time and don't have anything nice to say about it.

I've let Trilo know (if he gets the message), but I have no idea who in IT is left here & not dealing with BRC now. I'm limiting tabs as well, which is making it a PITA to crush spammers. Wheee?

Re: Is my four wheeled bike not allowed?
A 2-3 wheel bike, even with electric assist, is considered a "bike". Add that 4th wheel with electric assist and it becomes a "personal transport vehicle" and must follow DMV rules.

Re: Is my four wheeled bike not allowed?
I created a four person, four wheeled bike as my project this year (that has electric assist but also pedals) but according to what I just read on the vehicle rules, to be considered a "bike", it must be two or three wheels. Is a four wheeled bike something that has to go through DMV? Thanks for an...

PS: One question has always bothered me. They say the gate opens Sunday at midnight, but is it the midnight when Sunday ends, or when it just begins? Hello Gadas, and welcome to the madness! Re: Estimate for early entry Gate delay
The vast majority of EAs are for Saturday arrival. Arriving close to 12:01am Saturday will get you to camp in 4-8 hours, god willing. It's taken us as long as 12 (without horrible weather), so there is no "estimate" that works. Just have pee jugs in your car, snacks, and a backup driver if possible....

Re: Dumb Question: WHERE is the map of all the placed camps on this site?
Of course, I may be hallucinating, sure we have Placement on here... Not hallucinating - the only mostly accurate map * that will ever be seen by most of us is the MOOP map, which shows all the camps - but doesn't start getting released until mid-late Sept. However, even in the form we get to see i...

Re: Missing Tickets
Sadly the only ones who can sort this out are Ticketing. Other people can throw ideas at the wall, but they're honestly useless because resolution *has* to come from the department that deal with the tickets & has access to their computers and records. That said, have your early arrivals department ...

Re: It's (not) a conspiracy! Tickets are harder to find this year! Be vigilant!
It's not a new occurrence though - BMorg switched to the later shipping dates around 2014/15 (I believe), at the time there was more on why they did it. While there might be issues with a subset of orders, everyone I know who ordered tickets in the Main Sale or DGS has theirs now, including me, and ...

Re: It's (not) a conspiracy! Tickets are harder to find this year! Be vigilant!
I feel fairly certain that another factor is the very late arrival of physical tickets. Tickets arrive when they do as a security feature . If they're not out in the wild until mid-July, it makes it harder for scammers to make versions of them to sell to desperate Burners. Even with that and all th...

Re: Is there a list of performances that are scheduled to take place on the playa?
In a dozen years going to Burning Man precisely one planned performance I wanted to see happened at the time it was scheduled. More that I've been associated with have been on time, but that's more because the leader of that group is very OCD  This really is the place you let loose and let play...

Peracentisis in Feb (500ml), the one two weeks ago was thoracentisis. Plus 30lbs of fluid weight from my legs since Jan, mostly through diuretics. Yay for haywire livers!Consequences wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:05 pmWow! Eric that’s a lot of fluid. Glad to hear that you’re doing better. Was that a Peracentisis, thoracentisis, or a chest tube?

Re: The basic problem with modern BRC
If we really want to bring BRC back to its roots, take it off playa. Now, you want to shatter the event, get rid of the Big Burn in Nevada & create a bunch of smaller Burns all over? You mean those insignificant Regional Burns that still have the Burny magic that the Playa has lost? Or.....(tapping...

Last time I felt that much joy was just two weeks ago on April 9, when the hospital drained 750ml of fluid from around my right lung & I could breath normally for the first time in 6+ months. The first deep breath was like heaven.
