Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.
I'm all the way in SF and the air is so bad here my eyes are stinging and my throat is raw. I can only imagine how insufferably bad it is for people closer to the fire to be inhaling all these toxins - let alone the horrible losses. I have multiple friends who's families have lost everything in the ...

Re: 2018 Arrivial / Traffic
I love the RJG's hyperbole: allowed the event to swell past its population limit then, a few lines later: As of Friday, the population at the Black Rock Desert event had risen to 70, 358 I don't think less than 500 people is what is implied by "swell past". This is within the range that's happened b...

It's been a while since we've posted this reminder, so if all of our newer members could please read the Very First Post in this thread to see what it's all about it would put everyone on the same page. All are welcome to play, but this thread does exist as a pressure valve. As always, for all ePlay...

Remembering MyLarry
Last week we lost a member of the ePlaya family, one who rarely posted yet was a major presence to all of us who knew him. Our own AntiM's beloved & magical husband MyLarry was taken all too quickly (FUCK CANCER), this is a place for ePlayan's to share memories about him.

Y'all responded so much more politely than what I stopped myself from posting. Basically: Burning Man isn't your momma nor your nanny; if someone can't be bothered to follow basic safety rules in buying 3rd party tickets that for an event that is (a) sold out and (b) an extremely hot commodity... ye...

I've gotten the same. It's lovely to have a non-destroyed copy (though I have my dusty "real" tickets from those years as well)

Re: campsite needed
There will still be spots on the back streets - no need to join a camp, just find an open spot, check with the neighbors to make sure it's actually free, and set up your camp. Being a solo camper & meeting the neighbors is a really good way to end up with new life-long friends.

Do not post links for items unless they are in response to a question (asked by someone else) and it's specifically playa related. Any vehicle links MUST be approved by a moderator because, with incredibly few exceptions, they do not qualify as being playa-specific. We are not Craigslist, we are not...

Please note that Trilo is on-playa with limited cell service until sometime after the event. Please don't expect the name change before early Sept (though it may happen sooner. Who knows?)

That's what I get out of it as well. Sadly the actions of the Tribal Gov't are going to burn the average tribal member by loss of revenue, even if they're opposed to this action.

IMHO, 24 hours should be the minimum. Throughout the course of my day doing monotonous chores, I like to reflect upon what I have written and on many occasions desire to make changes. Reflect before you hit the "submit" button - I proof-read most of mine at least 3 times before I post. ePlaya is a ...

Re: Why isn't 12 o'clock North?
The street numbers have nothing to do with the layout of the city in relation to a compass. It's more to do with the names of the streets and navigating your way around. Yup - the radials didn't even get named with numbers until 2004, to make it easier for Emergency Services to find their way aroun...

Re: First Time Burner & Modest Dresser
I dress for comfort, even though my clothes tend to be bright. PJ bottoms, pantaloons, silk flowy pants for daytime, paired with a tshirt and a shit-ton of sunblock (I'm a ginger), keffiyeh for my head (double-duty head covering & dusk mask that fits over my beard), goggles. Good to go. Night-time i...

Re: Anyone have experience with motorized trenching on the playa?
I'm pretty sure trenching meant to be only for areas of possible public vehicle traffic. On playa, across a road. Not for hiding wires in your camp. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but it's not supposed to. Don't take that on as a newbie. This. If it's inside a camp, cover those wires with rug...

I thought we agree to the principles went we buy our ticket. but.... maybe more will feel better??.. Nope. I can guarantee you that no matter what system you come up with, if the person who is upset doesn't have a ticket in their hand, your system is a failure. How can I guarantee that? I've been a mod since the first sell-out, and every single "fix the tick...

You wanted to talk cock, own it. Re: Parachute shade structure Q's
You've been steered away from a parachute, but just to drive the point home: this is what happened to a brand-new parachute on our dome when a microburst hit it (same storm had a microburst that partially collapsed a steel dome). This even had venting in it. Make sure you use something stronger than...
