It seemed that a larger number than usual left early this year. I don't remember ever seeing so many close-in spaces empty on Saturday afternoon. The temple burn has always been The Big Event for me. For health reasons, I almost had to leave early this year, but am glad I was able to stay all the w...

I'm not inclined to question the perceptions either of the person who started this thread or of others who report something different because I think it is more likely that they firmly believe what they claim than that they are liars. That doesn't mean we are unable to come to some bottom-line dete...

I'm not sure if I am reading the follow-ups to my post correctly, but I was trying to bring in a new angle beyond body acceptance or fear of being nude in a public setting. Both of these themes have gotten some good discussion in this thread, but I was thinking that focusing on participation and ho...

I'm wondering if the same is true for me. I had to miss last year because of a big surgery and now look quite different from when I was last on the playa. So in two years, I have gone from being a somewhat muscular middle-aged guy to a somewhat wasted old man. My issue isn't modesty (for the most p...

Send email to the playa

A new service from BRC Post Office Extreme, email to the playa. The plan is to deliver telegram-like messages. Here's what you need:

Please choose the correct answer. The revised address system won't work because it... a) has Larry's fingerprints all over it b) contains excessive nudity c) isn't dusty enough yet d) enforces a deviant interpretation of the Bible e) plays at 160 beats per minute and you get too tired dancing to it

Address System, Version 2

To all who commented on our first draft of a more expressive address system for BRC, thanks again. For the simplicity advocates, we have reduced the original many pages to one, albeit with some loss of illustrative detail and humor. There are other changes, but what's important here is the outcome ...
