2004 BRC Map. Is the "N" arrow TRUE NORTH or MAGNE

I'm looking at the 2004 BRC map. There's a little North arrow. Anyone know if it points to True North or to our friend Magnetic North? Thanks!

In 2003, we used a huge 11x11 Eureka "Sunrise" with the rain fly on, 8 guy lines on the rain fly. The tent was rock solid in the wind. To the point... it has two upper mesh panels that aren't shuttable, grrr. They're there to let out the moisture of sleeping bodies; so not a problem on the playa. Du...

Some Suggestions for Staying Healthy

Suggestions (some obvious): 1) Sanitation: alcohol gel hand sanitizer, use religiously. It's cheap. Keep a pump at camp, a small bottle with you at all times, one in your tent. Works well on "clean" utensils and eating vessels (rinse with water). Some porta-potti sites had hand sanitizer pump statio...

Lottery?

The LOTTERY would only get your art car a spot *if* it passed the subjective whim of an art car review board (kinda like the current situation). If your art car doesn't, the lottery slot/permit would go to some other art car on the waiting list. (I agree, making the Playa space bigger is not the ans...

Institute a LOTTERY. Prevent theMisuse of Our Playa Commons.

Here's a thought... LOTTERY! It would allow a finite number of registered Art Cars on the Playa. Pre-existing "large scale" (whatever that means) art car projects could (or not) be exempt for a couple of years before they too were required to win one of the limited art car permits in the general lot...

Tips & tricks to avoid heat & extend usable sleep ti

Surprisingly, we found the couple of hours after dinner, before we went out for the night to be a great nap time. Many of the chill spaces on the Esplanade (and Hammock Camp! Thank you, Hammock Camp!) were perfect impromptu 3:59AM catnap spaces. Zipping a space blanket (a thin, silver, reflective sh...

2003 Burning Man Compared (In General) to Past Year(s)?

How did your 2003 Burning Man experiences *compare* to those of last year's Burning Man and Burning Mans prior to it? We're talking in *general terms,* such as you'd judge/articulate the mood of a community or city or public space. For instance, how'd you find the mood, vibe, group behaviors (desira...
