I've got 4 cones for goals and about a dozen polo mallets that I'm bringing with me.
I'll be camped at 2:45 & "B" with the PlayaWaste Raiders.

I use a Port-A-Band (portable bandsaw) for cutting the conduit. I made my own conduit smasher by using a 3 or 4 ton bottle jack and a set of dies made from 3/8" or 1/2" plate steel and some 2x2 square tubing to make the frame it sits in. A drill press makes short work of the drilling duties. when dr...

Why don't you try for a "Trampo-Dome" it goes up very easy & take down is almost as easy. My 14' was just great this year. I'm looking for a 10' or 12' trampoline frame to make a new one out of for the coming year. The 14' will be the new kitchen area for the Kamp Apokiliptika this coming year. And ...

Lots of neat stuff to be found at Harbor Freight. I plan on upgrading my press setup for next year. I found an air/hydraulic bottle jack at Harbor Freight that I plan on gettin later this year. Just hook it to my air compressor and press a lever and have it smash the conduit in one shot. no more hav...

With the bottle jack I'm using it take about 8-9 pumps. it's not to slow, especially for the results it makes, nice and flat with a nice little semi-circle in it. I've been toying with the idea over making a new conduit smasher using air over hydraulic to power it. just flip a lever or a foot pedal ...

Martinsky, to get the "U" shape inthe die, I put half of the diameter of the conduit on the edge of the steel plate, traced it, and cut it. According to the Grainger cataloge the outer diameter of the 3/4" conduit is .9220, so it's almost a 1" outer diameter. So by the time you trace it and cut it o...

I have come up with a new plan for a small dome. I was given a 14' trampoline frame that looks to be the base of this project, which I'm planning to mount a modified 1V dome on. Instead of a 5 sided 1V dome, I'm going to make it a 6 sided 1V dome. The trampoline frame upside-down has 6 very nice and...

Martiansky, I made them out of 1/2"plate steel the first set I made I used a portable bandsaw to cut a "V" into it then a hand grinder to round it out a bit. the second set I used a friends plasma cutter the a hand grinder to smooth it out a bit. probably could get a way with 3/8" plate, but I had a...

I've been debating adding a small punch piece to it, so it leaves a nice little indentation for a drill guide. Drill a hole in one side of the die and weld a small piece of a punch in it so the point of the punch is just barely sticking out so it make a nice neat mark. The hammer & anvil method is f...

Elemental, just make your own press. all you need is a 3 or 4 ton bottle jack and some steel tubing and steel plate. make a set of dies to suit your needs and weld it up. the only photos I have of the prototype I made are over on another website. If anyone wants the photos for making their own let m...

If I'm right you can do a 2V with an 8'-3" radius using 10' lengths with very little waste. If you decide to go the 1V route just use the 10' length, and save yourself a lot of cutting. Since you have 40 pcs. of conduit, you can get creative with a 1V dome. Instead of doing 5 sides using 25 pcs. you...

Don't forget to make sure the seam on the conduit is not pointed straight up or straight out to either side, point it in the middle of the 12 o'clock & 3 o'clock position, that will lessen the chance of splitting the conduit. For cutting conduit I use a port-a-band, hand held portable bandsaw. For m...

Martiansky, the 10' lengths of 3/4" emt conduit weigh about 4-1/4 lbs. ea. So if I'm right the dome should weigh in at 148-3/4 lbs. then you need to add the weight of all the nuts, bolts, and washers to it.Miss Tara @ Desert Domes has got a great website for domes. It's like a dome bible for us do-i...
