Re: How hard it is to buy the tickets ?

There are places that you can't say Radical Islam.
There are places you can't say that you can always get overpriced tickets on Stubthing.
But that doesn't mean Radical Islam isn't a real thing.

Re: Exp. RVers: Suggestions for House rules for renting an R

I keep seeing this "don't shit in the RV" mantra. Maybe my RV is special but with a good dose of the aldehyde based sanitizer we never had any smell and it was one of the great luxuries of the RV - not having to deal with nasty portalets is great. For guys, we peed in the portalets but enj...

Re: Exp. RVers: Suggestions for House rules for renting an R

I keep hearing this premise that you shouldn't shit in the RV toilet. Maybe my RV is special, but with a full dose of the blue formaldehyde chemical In the tank, there is never any smell in the RV. None. And being able to take a clean private shit in the morning after coffee and then clean up for th...

Re: If Burning Man Moved, Would You Still Go?...

If it were held in a place that didn't suck so badly, they could charge more for admission. You guys rationalizing the positives of a desolate hell hole coated with a hazardous substance is kind of funny. I braved it and enjoyed myself for sure, but come one, a nice prairie or rock surface would be ...

Re: The Car Thread

I currently have a 64 comet caliente that's a lot of fun but has a wimpy 260 engine. When searching the inter web to replace my 250k mile 80s mercedes sedan I saw a way underpriced AMG, it was totalled and rebuilt. So I bought an '08 E63 with very low miles for a song. I've never had a muscle car de...

Re: Buy or Rent an RV?

If you can afford it I think you should buy one. You can resell them perhaps even breakeven depending on what kind of deal you get should you change your mind after the trip.. It's a lot of fun to have your own RV and know exactly what the equipment can and can't do and drive it across the country l...

Re: Drone Summit on July 17th!

So two of us saw the same thing, so it wasn't totally a hallucination.... Is there a drone that could have looked like an unlighted flock of 6 or so birds flying together, low and straight and pretty fast between the temple and the man Friday night? It was either some strange drone, an unlikely floc...

Re: Best part of 2013?

The best part that I didn't expect was that the immediate 10 or so couples/camps around us were, to the person, great fun and compatible with us. We made friends right away, explored the days and nights together, and felt like we had been friends before coming there and meeting up. Shared food, and ...

Re: Neutralizing playa dust

I've heard it here before, and have found it very helpful to remove as much dust as possible before using any water. A blower tip on my big air compressor tank got almost all the dust out of a carpet, the nooks of my scooter motor, the window glides of the RV, and the rest. Even when hardened into th...

I gave it an open minded try and danced at a few of the stages. Some of that stuff is ok but some of it is just not best called music at all.

And to suggest that I shouldn't bitch about it is a waste of a post.

Wow, headed home now. That was quite a hoot. So the hippie washer 2000 was fabulous. It worked flawlessly. It was such a pleasure to gift out many long hot showers. Since I started this, here is what we ended up with. 7 5 gal Jerry Cans for gasoline in an outdoor plastic utility chest lined with HDPE liner, and a bonefide containment palate for a drum of diesel. And fire extinguishers and liquor of course.

Re: You can't evaporate garbage -- greywater pre-filtering

Soap and emulsified fats in soap are the biggest culprit and won't filter out with just particulate filters. The real key is to oxidize this shit before filtering or using activated charcoal. I think the most practical way to deal with really nasty water, like food impregnated dish water, is to put ...

the best fabric to anything glue Ive found is PL polyurethane black roof and flashing sealant. Its not meant to be a glue but it sticks great and stays flexible enough to bend with fabric and Velcro, and lasts forever, you need a glue cartridge dispenser. Its expensive but less than goop or shoe goo...

Do you have a way to test the treated water for pathogens and other Stuff?
