Re: Best place to stock up on water

Thanks Canoe,

Think I'll go for 2.5L bottles for convenience rather than the white buckets.
It's only water for myself, ~10g, so I'm probably overthinking it like Jaybobboy says, but I figured if there's one thing to get right its the water.

Best place to stock up on water

Hi, I'm wondering about the best place to pick up water pre-BRC, I see Gerlach "will be selling potable water for RVs and portable water containers. We will have containers for sale on a first come basis. 15 gallon containers are $45.00, 6 gallon containers are $20.00 and 7 gallon containers ar...

Re: Shade Structures for those coming from overseas

Thanks all, very helpful. I'll probably build a larger version of the structure boyscoutgirl linked to as it's along the lines I was thinking earlier, and it should be easy enough to build. Famous last words. Definitely planning to make friends with the neighbours, though I don't want to impose too ...

Shade Structures for those coming from overseas

I'm coming to BM for the 1st time this year from the UK. As I'm flying in I'm limited on baggage & plan to pick up most stuff in the USA. That's mostly all sorted apart from a shade structure. I've done a bit of research and ruled out a monkeyhut as it involves too much pre-playa construction I ...

Re: Santander just cost me £150 & flight to BM

Fairly sure they're not competent, otherwise I'd've got my flights booked. Don't think the USA's got anything to do with it - while I was booking a flight to USA the cost was in denominated in £ & while it was going through a .com website that isn't unusual for internet transactions. Think it wa...

Re: One Item for BM a Day

Awesome! Being 21 or older helps too :) What city were you planning on heading out from?? I have only rented from SFO (the San Francisco Airport), but I am certain other burners have a more diverse renting experience... Some rental companies do not like renting vehicles to burning man participants ...

smoking it won't do much, its too bulky for you to get anything without smoking like a pound of it or something. Think I heard it may well be denatured by heat too

Santander just cost me £150 & flight to BM

Was booking flights to San Francisco from the UK today, found a sweet return flight for £605 giving me a week either side of BM to enjoy the west coast. Got through to finalising it, booked a hire car too, & then my bank card got rejected. Apparently my bank (Santander) has automated software th...

Re: Playa gift ideas

Awesome thread, lot of really cool ideas. This'll be my first time & I'm flying in so space/weight is at a premium so I'll mostly try to just help folk out & give water/ cold sprays stuff like that. May bring some multivitamin packs along too, those sound useful.

Re: A Beginner's Guide to El-Wire

So do you need a seperate battery & inverter for each colour/seperate strand of EL wire or can you wire a blue one to a red one to a white one to get differet patterns all on the same battery?

Re: Long Distance Burning Logistics

This'll be my 1st time at BM and I'm going to be flying in from the UK, probably to San Francisco & hiring a car from there. As the amount of stuff I can bring over's going to be severely limited I'll need to buy stuff in USA. I was wondering if someone could give me a pointer as to what I shoul...

Hi Matt, good to see a few folk from Edinburgh on here, originally I'm from nearby - Tranent.
First year for me too, looks like fun, but we Scots may have a job getting used to the weather ;)

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You

Hi everyone, I'm Apprentice Dreamer - looking forwards to a first year at Burning Man this year. I've wanted to go since I first heard about it, I looked into it seriously a few years but this is the first time when things seem to have come together & I'm able to go and have the motivation to ma...

Re: Kava

The chewed by virgins bit is the traditional practice (as they tended to be young & have better teeth), but now it's all done with an automatic grinder to powderise the roots. Kava - like whisky - is a bit of an acquired taste, served traditionally it resembles a bowl of muddy water & doesn'...

Hi Suzy,
Looks like your in the same boat as me - first timer from the UK trying to sort out logistics for this year. I'm from Birmingham though, don't think we've got as active a scene as London.

See you on the playa
