Re: law enforcement 2013

while I had some good interactions and fun experiences this year, the police presence added negativity to an otherwise memorable experience. On the way in Sunday afternoon the person on my left, and then 30 seconds later on my right both got pulled over. It was ridiculous stressing about if I was go...

Re: Costume & Crafting Help

I ended up getting slammed with work so I'm behind on my costuming, but I did figure out how to get my serger to produce a nice rolled hem yesterday! It took 3 hours to figure out how to thread it, and several pieces of fabric had to be sacrificed to get the tensioning right, but now I have a nice g...

Re: Burning Man Weather Forecast Center

I'm worried about the smoke. I live in south lake tahoe, here the smoke is so bad you can't even go outdoors. I hear it's the same or worse in reno/carson.

We're buying hepa filtered masks just in case (my asthma has been acting up), wondering how bad the smoke is on the playa.

Re: Freezing water bottles

The only thing I do differently is freeze with the caps off. That way there is no chance of explosions. I leave the caps on the top of the freezer to remember to put them on before I use the frozen bottles. Yes it works, I do it all the time, not just Bman but camping and backpacking. The secret is ...

Interesting theory on radical entitlement. Beggars not understanding that if they first try themselves, then someone along the way might decide to help them without being asked, but if you skip that whole try part... problemo! I think another aspect of your radical entitlement theory is sparkleponie...

Re: Im a hitch hiker and would love to go! But, poor travele

Elliot, I get the feeling that you might be saying 6 days isn't enough time to start from scratch and up well prepared on the playa. Sparkleponies make the burn go round, if we cull them before it even starts the numbers might be too low this year! Hey there, and welcome to ePlaya. I have ...

Today I got my h12 all cut and taped up to be semi-folding! Took my partner and I about 7 hours. Would have did a test run setting it up but a storm rolled in here in Tahoe, I wonder if it rained on the playa too? doing the setup tomorrow so I can get my air conditioning and generator plumbed in and...

My burning man 2023 experience: My tent permit wasn't approved in time for the burn, so I'm looking to join an orphan camp. All of the pnp camps are out of my price range unfortunately. 2 of my 8 costumes passed the inspection process this year, I'm super stoked to have choices this go around! I can...

Depends on your route. If you want to stay near 80 then there are lots of fun places in the north shore. Crystal bay is lovely, and Sand Harbor is a little more out of the way but fantastic places to go and relax by the lake. My favorite spot is Secret Harbor. part of it is a nude beach and it's a b...

Don't your camp dues of $10k+ entitle you to gourmet catered meals 24/7? :P I LOVE being over prepared, especially in the food department. This year my camp is doing the food prep and I'll just be helping out, but in past years and camping trips these are a few of my tricks for eating how I want whe...

road pizza sounds tasty. Do they deliver it all over the playa, or just near the center? Go to K-Mart or Wally World and buy a Cheap-ass-bike and then ride it from the Airport to BRC just to feel extra self-reliant. ignore the fact that you will have to rely on EMT's and dental records when some poo...

I'll have to decorate them so my partner and I can tell them apart. A urinal container is not something I care to share.
