Re: Donald Trump is my hero
Drumpf was how President Trump's ancestors originally spelled it. Although unlike most Germans who immigrated then anglicized their names upon arrival here, his changed their names while back in Germany. It's a complicated story.
Please stop using the original German spelling as if it's an insult.

Re: Donald Trump is my hero
Or have some class and don't attack someone's ancestry. There's plenty to criticize, I'm no Trump fan. But I don't hate him either.

Re: Donald Trump is my hero
I don't like it when people attack Trump by calling him Drumpf. I'm half german and half scandinavian, and proud of my heritage. Emphasizing the origin of someones name as an insult is just classless. Did you know German is the largest single ethnic background in the US, not English or Irish. If it ...

Re: How many outfits or costumes do you bring?
I'm in the middle of packing and so far was able to get all of my hats and hats that need hat boxes to fit into one big bin, success! The rest of my outfits are interchangeable viking or steampunk gear. Leather cuffs, leather pauldron, steampunk goggles, bracelets. Whenever I settle on a theme I jus...

Re: People Seeking Camps 2019
I'm solo camping with a buddy this year. Will be my 3rd time so I'm well prepared. Have extra shade to share (20'x20' total, using about half), and making a lounge area to chill in. It wouldn't be burning man without commiserating with campmates about the heat and dust over warm beer. Even have a si...

Re: Driving to BRC from Austin and back
That might work out Allen, I'm actually stopping in ABQ to visit family on the way. However I wasn't able to secure a vehicle pass in the last sale, so until I figure that out my plans our on hold. Would be pretty shitty if I did all this planning and had to sell my tickets last minute because I cou...

Driving to BRC from Austin and back
I'm leaving Austin on the 21st and returning on the 7th or 8th (driving back always takes longer, too tired!).
Picking up a buddy at the airport in Reno, but otherwise will have space for 1 more + a small amount of gear. PM for more info if you'd like to rideshare or caravan.

Re: cooling your tent or van
If anyone is interested I'm trying this pump bucket cooler out this year. I wanted something simple that didn't need any type of power. No idea how well it works yet, but I like the idea of putting a gallon or two in there then pumping and having 20-40 mins of mist on demand.

lol Token, I'm only about halfway through my transformation from city princess to paranoid mountain prepper kook, but at least it's been a fun ride so far :D I have never owned a big diesel truck before. Re: My camp's prep list so far
Have a fun update I wanted to share: I traded in my ford escape for a big ole F250 for future RV adventures. Should mean I can now bring a lot of the stuff I didn't have room for before to this year's burn: like a camp oven, extra chairs, and a few sparklepony stowaways. How much kibble does a spark...

Re: My camp's prep list so far
Thanks everyone for all the great responses! Ratty : great tip to keep the icechest off the ground. I'll have some 2x4's strapped to my roof rack for transporting, should be able to untie those during the burn and place the chests on top of them so they aren't on the ground. The entire area of my sh...

2019 will be my 3rd time at burning man. First 2 times I stayed with theme camps, this will be my first time camping in the open camping areas. I'm going with 1 friend, but we might have 1 or 2 other stragglers join us. I'm planning on going to burning man a few more times over the next decade (tick...

I think Trump is trolling us all, I just haven't figured out exactly what just yet. Will have to vote for him again in 2020 to find out I suppose.

War rabbit: that's an awesome idea! I've been looking for some inspiration for a rabbit mask this year, thanks!
And since most of my playa wardrobe is mad max meets the golden girls I should be able to cobble something together pretty easily to go with the mask. Back to work!

Keep in mind this was for green man and then cargo cult, so maybe more recent ticket purchases are different. My experience both times was pretty similar: I filled out the profile ahead of time. Made sure to be ready with my credit card the exact minute that the main sale started, and kept refreshin...

Re: What do you use to keep cool when AWAY from camp?
This year I'm going all out on expression through costumes, so I'm fully expecting to suffer. I normally carry a water spritzer to cool down with. I have a fair complexion so I usually wear a light long sleeve shirt during the day with a wide brimmed hat, and tons of sun screen on anything exposed. ...

Directed at anybody going solo really. If my friend who I'm trying to drag with me this year is in he knows some people that might already be in a camp we can join. Otherwise I'll end up out in the boonies by myself, both ways work me.

Re: Tickets for 2019???
I had a vision last night: the shutdown starts again in 3 weeks and the BLM is never able to finish whatever it is in time for burning man 2019. Hardcore types go anyway and it's an awesome burn for once, just like back in '97. For whatever reason I decide to go to vegas instead, and I never have my...
