Re: So who is still going?

I have a feeling that the Black Rock Desert will become a magnet for people toward mecca for generations to come. This year however, I fully expect that there will be police blocking the roads for people attempting to camp on the site where Burning Man is held. So, for how many years will BLM conti...

Re: Everything lost is gone forever

Not to forecast doom and gloom, but realistically if we don't burn in 2021, I'm afraid that will be the end of the scheduled event. The BMOrg will have burned though all their financial reserves, and just won't be able to carry on. It will be very hard to reconstruct the infrastructure, reset servic...

Re: Burning Man Dating Service

The idea of a burner dating app sounds kind of boring and monotonous. A much better idea is to download a regular dating app and put in an obscure TTITD reference that only the most crusty of burners will appreciate. Something like "Enjoys midnight walks along the trash fence, holding hands, while ...

I get my beef from a local farm here in south central KS. They have plenty, any cut you want. They sell entire cut up and wrapped half sides of grass-fed open range beef for $1400 and offer many smaller packages. Free front porch delivery in my area. Now it's a different story in southwest Kansas wh...

Re: Keeping cool in a tent - tips?

Most of the time, keeping cool while you sleep after dark won't be a problem-it gets cold on the playa at night. But, once the sun comes up, it warms up fast. That's when it is time to wake up, find a patch of shade outside, and get hydrated and nutritated for the next day's shenanigans.

Let the people make the choice for themselves. Draft dodger, socialist, geriatric imbecile, war hero, you might as well roll the dice. Either way, in gambling, the house always has the edge.

I'm not a Trump apologist, but I expect some fact checking. Trump never said to ingest or inject bleach, Lysol, Ty-D-Bowl or anything else. He was watching a scientific demonstration on using UV light via fiber optic into a vein, As the blood was exposed to this specific frequency of UV light, it wo...

Oh well, Simon, when in doubt, blame the guns, because, well...... guns! To me, I think all of these people ignoring stay at home orders in states where case counts continue to increase are merely lemmings in search of a cliff to jump off. I live in a rural county with no recorded cases, but I still...

For the BORG to put the tickets on sale one day (which will sell out in minutes) and in the next day or so announce the event will not be held and (sorry, suckers!) there will be no refunds, sounds like out-and-out fraud. It would be done that way to raise enough for operating funds until next year,...

There is a nice state rest area on I-40 on the east side of Amarillo, TX. It's secure, well lit, and has a rest area for RV's separated from the 18-wheelers by an overhead barrier. You can stay overnight without any imperial entanglements from the authorities. No dump stations or water fill, though....

I think you hit the nail right on the head, Some Seeing Eye: "bureaucratic inertia". The bureaucrats will be loathe to make any decision, that in retrospect, may reflect badly upon them. If driving (about 2700 miles-42 hours non-stop one-way) From Philadelphia, take I-76W to I-90 to I-80 near Chicago. Turn west on 80 and drop the hammer all the way to Fernley, NV, then make the dash to the playa.

Easy-peasy if you don't die of boredom or sleep deprivation getting there.

We don't need the CDC to find a cure. Leave it up to private enterprise or other researchers, The folks who develop a vaccine and patent it will get rich beyond their dreams. That is probably more efficient then a bunch of white-coated lab rats existing on the taxpayer dime.

Police can track your location via Google

Police have increased the use of "geofences" when investigating even non-violent crimes. They can ask Goodle for any history of any users location within a specific area at a certain time. This can lead to innocent people coming under scrutiny even though they were just passing by. How do you protec...

Conspiracy Theory:

BLM will refuse to grant a 2020 Burning Man event permit on the grounds that it could enable rampant spread of Coronavirus carried in by residents of west coast states.
