Re: Electric Car Charging at BM 26
Anything short of a Supercharger will leave you wanting in the charging department. The amperage a solar trickle charger will produce is microscopic compared to the 240 volts and 50+ amps a dedicated hard-wired charger would have. Plugging into a camps' fossil fuel driven generator 110 volt outlet w...

Re: Washoe County & Feds to improve Hwy 34
The operations plan would include a variety of BRC evacuation plans. Having drivable shoulders would really help bring evacuated vehicles to 447 N & S at the Y. If there are drivable shoulders, they WILL be driven on, both inbound and outbound, emergency or not. Nature abhors a vacuum, ( Aristotle...

Re: Exiting N from Gerlach; is there a back way for Exodus?
Turning off the engine, rolling the windows down during a pulse pause and socializing is good in theory, but confounded by asshats from BLM Police agencies and GPE perimeter speeding around just on the other side of the Exodus lane fence, stirring up clouds of playa dust.....and of course-the inesca...

Re: Robots on the Playa?
They put one of these autonomous dogs on the streets of Black Rock City, the following could happen:
- Some burner sill spray paint it, including over the camera lens.
DPW or a mutant vehicle will run it over
it will get waylaid and stripped for parts
it will be abducted and never to be seen again

Re: Tesla as a base for mutant vehicles
As a former Tesla owner, I can say this regarding recharging a Tesla using camp generators. The plug in charger (not the 220 volt wall mounted charger at your home or a Supercharger) will take over 8 hours to bring a 20% charge up to an 80% charge, That's a lot of generator run time consuming a lot ...

My suggestion: Desertion (the action of deserting a person, cause, or organization) After 3 brutal years of heat, then mud, then wind and dust, even loyal Burners are thinking twice about returning.

Those load bearing vests with radio pouches may be a bit hot, unless they are constructed with mesh. But, you WILL look tac-ti-cool.

Take a look at the ESD folks and how they carry radios. Most of them have a sling carrier or vest carrier with up to three (!) radios. Gets them off their belt!

No carpet, just rake the Playa lightly and regularly and smooth it with a roller or broom. Golf courses in low water areas have used sand greens for years.

I mounted my Renogy 100 Watt 12 Volt portable folding solar panel with waterproof 20A charger controller (solar suitcase) flat on cedar fence boards laid across my truck bed, aimed straight to the sky (no shade) and held down against wind lift with straps and a security chain. It provided all the po...

Tired of winter! Bring on the sunny days of the playa!
Even Willie Shakespeare is tired of this cold and snow and he yearns for the sunny days on the playa at BRC: (from Richard III, spoken by Gloucester) Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York; And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house In the deep bosom of the o...

Best Gate Road ever?
I waited to exit Black Rock City until 3 PM Wednesday, Sept. 6. From Greeters to the pavement, Gate Road was fairly smooth and hard packed clay, compared to the dust covered holes and ruts that damaged my little camper in 2022 exodus. I had one pulse wait, then on to CR 34. Traffic on the pavement w...

Re: End of an Era|New Era: Internet Fiber Comes to Gerlach
I hope Gerlach has the same great fiber experience my area has. Five years ago, my town in rural Kansas was the beneficiary of a grant to bring broadband to rural America. Our local telephone co-op stepped up, laid fiber optic cable throughout town, including right up to my house. I have blazing fas...

When does Box Office/Will Call open August 19?
For those of us lucky enough to have staff credentials and work WAPs, how early does Box Office/Will call open on August 19th? My first work shift is the morning of the 20th, my WAP pickup date is the 19th, and I really need to get on-playa to set up the work support camp I manage before work. Last ...

I-80 Wadsworth rest area question
Question for you Nevada area burners... Is the rest area on westbound I-80 MM 42 near Wadsworth fully open now? (inside toilets, potable water, and RV dump) The rest area had been closed for a couple of years due to water well issues. The NV DOT and NV 511 web sites have conflicting reports as to st...

Re: Death count at Burning Man
When I was in the Army 50 long years ago, they warned us multiple times about the dangers of sleeping under, or adjacent to, tanks/personnel carriers/trucks, no matter how cold or rainy it was. And then I learned this at my first (2014) burn: If you are going to sleep on the ground in front of a veh...

It can vary by location. For example, last year at 3:30 and D the prevailing wind blew in from left to right (facing toward the Man, or in other words blowing from the 4:00 toward 3:00 radials-blowing right down D Street) That has been my pretty much experience in previous years in a similar locatio...

I'm usually not an advocate of violence, but perhaps in this case, if he does show up, a little "corrective peer counseling" may be in order to get the message across?
