Re: philosophical discussions
I tell you guys something: I think it's high time we update the old board game of Monopoly for Millennials, in order to make it more relatable. As they go around the board they only pay rent and never actually own any properties. And if they can't pay rent they can simply stay in the basement. Hasb...

Re: Realistic non-cooler based menu planning
The only thing I place in my soft cooler are sealed cheese sticks, Mixed salad kits, Lunch Meat, advocado cups, maybe chicken salad/shredded chicken, precooked bacon, a bag of boiled eggs, a package of hot dogs... I dont do any fish because I would have to live with the garbage odor. anything that n...

Re: Couple of Burner Express questions
This will be my 3rd year taking the bus. I left last year on a 6am Sunday bus and I was in Reno by 8:35am. The airport had a bike return corral, so I was able to drop my bike off with no issues. My flight was leaving around 4-6pm so I had plenty of time to freshen up in the bathroom before boarding ...

I just received a voicemail message from Reno Airport stating that the bike return corral will be available for those flying in and out. It will be located at the south end of the airport. The donated bikes will be used for local children in need of a bike.

Re: Transport help needed from Reno to the BRC!!!!!
You MIGHT be able to buy a last min ticket on the Burner Express in person if space permits. BUT you have to be ready to go with the correct amount of luggage. I would get to Reno Airport around 9am and ask. Asking doesn't hurt. The worst they can say is no. Plus Ive seen plenty of people looking fo...

Re: Burner Express Impressions
This was my second year using the Burner Express. I left Reno Airport on the Saturday 12 PM shopping stop bus, and I arrived at the main bus depot ~5 PM at 6:15 & J. We would've arrived there sooner, but we got stuck in traffic for 30 min because the bus driver entered the wrong gate lane. As usual,...

If you have a bike, rest the luggage on the seat and handle bars and push the bike.

Trash I was sent a letter stating that we will be given 2 seven gallon trash bags marked for the Burner Express. 1 is for recyclables, and 1 is for trash. Only the designated trashbags will be honored. It's up to us to recycle the aluminum cans at Center Camp. Nothing was said about returning our b...

A money belt...... I'm totally feeling the Jean-Luc Picard pic. A wallet makes sense, but if you are very paranoid, a money belt or a card holder around the neck and under your shirt might work too.

It sounds like a bad situation to be in. I would get physicals if you can. The org needs to authorize split ticket orders for future burns because it always seems like an issue. At least for me it is....lol

PREACH!!!! I'm bringing my ex this year, and he wants to share my tent. Its a huge tent. I usually have no issues with sharing my things with him, but the tent issue is bugging me. Im used to tenting alone. I love the privacy of my own tent.

Re: Need veteran advice about Burning Express
I left on Friday last year via the Burner Express, and it took me 2.5-3.5 hours to make it to the airport in Reno. Times vary, so plan accordingly. A Friday exodus is much easier than Sat-Mon. I would normally oppose most opinions because I like to be spicy, but trilobyte is on point. The playa hate...

I have to agree with figjam. I met tons of people waiting for the Express Bus. People will converse with you, it's part of the Burning Man experience. Just be open to sharing your thoughts with others. BTW, sharing a tent is a horrible idea...lol...HORRIBLE! You will thank me later on. Enjoy t...

The grocery store burner express bus stop sells boxes that contain 6 one gallon jugs for ~$6. 6 gallons weight 48Lbs and 2 boxes take up the size of a large suitcase. stop over guessing this stuff, its not that serious. Re: Need veteran advice about Burning Express
I took the Express Bus last year, and Im taking it again this year. I would highly recommend that you get there a day early and stay at a hotel. A lot of hotels have free shuttles to and from the airport that run every hour. One of those hotels is located 7 blocks away from savemart hint hint (walki...

Awesome idea! I remember how hard it was for me to transport my water from the bus stop at 9 and G to my camp that was 1/2 block away. The water weighed 100lbs!
I actually thought about helping the bus riders this year with their stuff. If you need any help, let me know!

Re: Shade for those who fly
Join a free camp with a decent shade structure, it will make your life so much easier and you will meet a lot of interesting people. If you have issues email me. BTW, the sun will roast your tent without a proper shade structure over it. If you decide not to bring a shade structure, camp close to an...

Re: How to shower at Burning Man with the wind???
I bathed in my tent with an Ice cream bucket filled with water, a washcloth, a bar of soap, Baby wipes, alcohol wipes and a travel towel. You might want to lay out an opened up trash bag on your floor. I was fortunate to have a tent that I could stand up in and a small chair to sit down on too. Afte...

Re: Ultralight Space Saving Supplies for Plane Travelers
I'll get the ball rolling with my camping supplies from last year. I bought some good quality supplies that are definitely reusable. #1 A down sleeping bag 32 degrees. It is the size of a regular sports drink bottle. #2 A kids foldout chair for my tent. The chair can support the weight of a 150lb pe...

As per your suggestions , I used the 12" Green Military stakes last year and I found them to be super sturdy. They helped to make my burn enjoyable. THANKS A MILLION! BTW, My tent stake holes were too small, so I bought big metal rings similar to key rings to put the stakes through. They only cost m...

Ultralight Space Saving Supplies for Plane Travelers
I was having a conversation recently with people from my camp. The topic of our conversation was, "How can one burn with ultralight space saving supplies, so that we don't discard a lot of our supplies before returning home?" Don't get me wrong, I want us to have a awesome burn, but I also want us t...

This post is a follow-up to what I encountered on leaving Burning Man Friday via the Burner Express in hopes of catching my Friday night flight out of Reno at 7:15pm. The trip back to the airport was slightly uneventful. I say slightly because I was under the assumption that shuttles would be pickin...

Re: Burner Express Bus Service To/From BRC
I have to agree with Zhust, Pods are an awesome Idea, but there's not enough market for it, and it will ultimately be too expensive for anyone to use. Packing light is the best way to go because there's no way of transporting a crap load of luggage by yourself. I was blessed though, my camped was ac...
