Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
My name is Gray, I'm in L.A. and I'm a newb, as I've been reminded already. I have some experience building temporary structures for windy, hot events from camping at Coachella the last five years. Last year was a 2100 sq. ft. canopy enclosed space with a separate 400 sq. ft. "air conditioned" room....

Re: I'm in S T E P
Yeah. That one makes me nervous, though... only so many tickets and the big sale sold out in no time this year.

Re: I'm in S T E P
Doing well, thanks. I've been told that by a bunch of folks I know that are in camps, but they sold out so fast this year. I wasn't sure if that was people scalping or if folks just really wanted to go.

Re: I'm in S T E P
I was in surgery when the tickets went on sale and completely missed the start of STEP. I didn't get in until 3/1... I wonder if there's any chance at all I'll get a ticket.

Re: Solar conversion
Alrighty... I finally got around to watching the video and if I understand correctly this one will handle up to 50v and about 200w (even though it says 250) which is more than I'm going to push: https://www.google.com/search?q=mppt250+solar+controller&num=100&hl=en&safe=active&source=univ&tbm=shop&t...

I look at trolls much in the same way as I do small children wailing in the supermarket that they want candy. They're annoying, but I don't take it as an assault on me, just an indication that they weren't raised properly.Simon of the Playa wrote:i got a rise out of you.

Re: PLAYA FASHION - What works? What doesn't?
Heh, nice. And no, not taking anything seriously in the greater sense of what I'm expecting in regards to people in general, just talking to one person. I mean, hell, a kid born the first year he went could vote in the next election. The only thing I'm taking seriously is figuring out how to be pro...

Re: PLAYA FASHION - What works? What doesn't?
Like I wrote, this is my first time and you've been on going for 17 years, Simon. However, I have been doing a lot of reading on websites and here on the forum, watching videos and talking to people I know who have gone before. I know that doesn't substitute in any way for experience, but your narro...

Re: Solar conversion
It is, indeed, one of the BP panels. Best price I've ever seen per watt and it's made in the U.S. The last time I tested it in full sun, though, it was putting out 36v. I'm running two deep cell and was had them connected in parallel in order to double my amp hours. The idea was to get 12v in from t...

Solar conversion
I have a 170W solar panel that puts out 36v. I need to convert that down to 12v to keep my deep cell batteries charged. I tried a convertor built for a golf cart, but it fried after about a day. Suggestions? I'd be willing to build something if I just know what to use... I'd also like to put somethi...

Re: PLAYA FASHION - What works? What doesn't?
Earlier in the thread someone was talking about how it was played out and unimaginative... I'm probably worrying more than I should since it's my first time.Savannah wrote: I've never heard of wearing a shemagh as a skirt being a negative. Maybe that's a regional thing?

Re: PLAYA FASHION - What works? What doesn't?
So... yeah. First time going, but I've done a lot of other desert-y type stuff. I'm planning on being one of those, um, douchebags (?) wearing a shemagh as a skirt and a couple of extras tied around the waist to tie around my face in a dust storm and to offer others for the same. I like loose linen ...
