Water container(s)

I've been on the look out for something large to hold our water for the week. There will be 2 of us, so we figure we'll need about 30 gallons or so. Anyone have any thoughts on a large barrel or container that will hold about that? Or will we just need lots of smaller containers? (I am aware of the ...

Well as far as maintainence is concerned, I heard about someone offering help with sections, loose hairs, sewing/crochet, to spiff them up. Since I did mine myself the sectioning is a little off and I have lots of loose hairs I'd like fixed. Thats what I meant by maintainance. As far as washing, I h...

I assume that the alkali dust would start to make your scalp irritated.
No?

Wow those are cool. I was thinking of doing something similar, after I get back from the burn. This is my first year.
How much are those or whats the trade?
I'd love any of the ones 32-36, if you still have those.

Playa dreadlocks

I heard a rumor about a camp (?) that does maintainence for your dreads. Anyone know anything about this. I havent any fellow dreadheads here for advice or grooming help, and I could use some fixin' up.
Anyone have tips on washing on the playa or scalp issues?

Yes, thats my next step Salvation Army, goodwill etc.
I did find one though my local freecycle but its a touring bike with thin tires, hence the start of this thread.
I think I should pass it up and opt for thicker tires

You guys are all so helpful. Thanks.

I did find some info on the Amtrak site about bringing bikes along, there should be someway(either boxed, carry-on, etc) for me to bring a bike on the train. WOO!
I still need to *get* a bike first.

Well thanks everyone. But it looks like I wont be able to get a bike out there. GRRR! I'm most likely taking the train, and my boyfriend doenst seem to think its practical to bring a bike dispite his brother driving there (possibly) with a trailer which could haul a couple bikes. We had this discuss...

Bicycle tires

Are thin tires(like on a touring bike) bad on the playa?
Should I opt for some thicker ones? Does it really matter?

Yup, I think I have read the survival guide at least 2 times and the faq. I think I have combed though the website pretty damn good heh.
I've been maintaining a list of stuff to bring/remember/get prepared. I have also been saving $$$.

Ha I quite enjoyed that lil poem.
Thanks!

Hey I'm new here. This will be my first burn, most likely taking the train(48 hour trip) there and meeting some friends. I'm in Grand Rapids Michigan. 23 years old. I'm a fashion merchandising student here at the community college. I am not sure how I first heard of this place, probably just searchi...
