Bar Traffic?
Hi all, We're a new placed camp, and we're trying to figure out what our bar traffic will be. We're setting up a bar near 8:45 & B, but have no idea how many drinks we should plan to serve. Our bar will be open during the evenings from around 8-10ish. Is 100 drinks/day a reasonable estimate? Other c...

Re: The basic problem with modern BRC
While I recognize that the Big Burn was founded by people from SF, and there are many fine people residing in said city, I'm suggesting that our current location isn't sustainable from either end. I don't have anything against SF in particular or techies (being one myself). What I do see an issue wi...

Re: The basic problem with modern BRC
Here's an idea: You know what's wrong with BRC? The location. If we really want to bring BRC back to its roots, take it off playa. I'm serious: move it somewhere new. Montana? South Dakota? Texas? There's plenty of open land in the country (and the world!), and moving it out of driving range of the ...

Looking for hauling from CO to BRC
This might be a long shot, but two years ago I met a burner who was driving a semitruck from Boulder to BRC and back. (Captain Dan, maybe?) Anyone know of him, or anyone else in the area who can haul gear from the Denver area to the Playa? Cheers, Dr. awkwarD (Apologies to the mods if this is in the...

Boulder to BRC, Leaving 8/24, Room for 1 more
Hey ePlayans, I posted this on the Rideshare board, but thought I'd try here as well. As the title says, I'm leaving Boulder, CO on the evening of Wednesday, August 24th, and hoping to make it to the Playa on Friday. I've got room in my Corolla for one other traveler and their light gear. A few thin...

Seeking someone in Reno to Ship things to
Hey EPlayans, I'm heading to the playa in a few weeks, and was wondering if there was someone in Reno (or near BRC) who I could ship things to and pick them up right before the burn. My car is kind of small, and it would be great if there were anyone who I could ship a box of costuming and such to a...

Ticket Transfer Troubles - Can anyone help?
So, here's my situation-- The short story: I sold my paper ticket to another member of my camp who's travelling in from Australia. There was an issue with the mail, and now she's here and her ticket is there. They won't let her on the bus without her ticket. I have photos of the hard ticket, and I'm...

Re: Advice: Moving to the Bay Area
Best advice I could give is to do some actual research on sites that specialize in the kind of information you're looking for. On its best day, this isn't much of a real estate board or neighborhood guide, and those types of resources already exist on the internet. SF and Oakland are both very big ...

Re: Advice: Moving to the Bay Area
Thanks for the advice, guys. I do have a car, so that's not too big of a deal. Also, I've been saving up, so I've got a few thousand dollars socked away for moving expenses, etc. The hardest thing to gauge (as an outsider) is the pros and cons of San Francisco vs Oakland. From what I've gathered fro...

Re: Advice: Moving to the Bay Area
I'm in IT (like everyone else in the area, it seems), and I hope to have a job before I get there.
What am I looking for? Somewhere safe that's either close to stuff, or close to a means to get to stuff.

Advice: Moving to the Bay Area
Hey guys-
I'm making plans to move from St. Louis, out to the SF Bay Area this summer (right before the burn, in fact).
Anyone have any advice for moving out to the Bay Area? What neighborhoods should I be looking in for housing? Any other words of wisdom?

Re: Toe shoes on the playa
I had a pair I wore last year. Your feet will get dusty, but then, so will everything. Honestly, I wore mine for a while, and then said "f- it" and just went barefoot for the rest of it. So much dust gets trapped in them and held against your feet, it gets kind of uncomfortable (but not unbearable).

Re: Vehicle Passes and Burning Man Traffic Issues
It's total bullshit that BMorg is trying to solve the traffic problems that we all bitched about so loudly last year. Here are some alternative ideas: You know, rather than try to sell us traffic passes, they should just shoot every other person that drives up to the gate. Right in the head. Afterwa...
