Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Hey! Can you get a grant, or funding, for a theme camp? I am SO thinking the National Endowment of the Arts needs a good playa shagging. Drinks all around! (purely in the interest of researching the mating customs of the playa sparklepony, of course). Haha, I'm not in school anymore so no...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
But seriously... a question... Why did you think you could write a THESIS on something you knew nothing about, and still do a workmanlike job of it?  Well, I wanted to write about something I was interested in and I knew I would be going to Burning Man that summer and I'd have to...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Hi all! So it's been a year since I turned in my thesis and I see that this thread is still somewhat active. I just wanted to let you all know that after attending Burning Man last year I have come to the conclusion that ALL YOU MOTHER FUCKERS WERE RIGHT!! God damn it. I wish I could re-write my who...

What is YOUR favorite group shade hangout structure?
Hello! I'm sure that aspects of this topic have been explored in other threads (please link me to them if you know their whereabouts) but I thought I'd start a new topic based more on opinions. My camp is stepping it up this year and are trying to go into all out theme camp mode--RWAR! We're very ex...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
I didn't actually end up using that one. It's more of a story of Jones' experience than a collection of other people's experiences. I really like Gilmore's stuff though. What do you think of her?

This is my kitchen table right now. Not fake. I'm just trying to be nice, appreciative and learn as much as I can.

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Thank you to everyone who responded! This thread has actually been really useful because now I am going to make sure that I include a section in my thesis that explains how impossible it is to write a full, complete and accurate depiction of Burning Man without having experienced it first hand. This...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
I didn't realize this was such a common occurrence, although maybe I should have. I apologize, I'll just continue to work on my paper without your input. But I hope you know that you seriously just made me feel like complete dog shit and I am now crying. I didn't mean to offend anyone or cross any b...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Wow, I really thought the Burner community would be more welcoming. I'll leave this thread up for another hour, but if I keep getting jerky responses I'll just delete it. Sorry for asking....

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Why don't you write a thesis on the way the eplaya community reacts to people when who have never been to the burn ask this on-line community for information so they can write a thesis on the event? You might want to spend some time exploring how the idea "no spectators" plays into this. I'm sensin...

Re: Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Sweet! I need to address opinions like this in my paper, obviously not everyone has a spiritual experience at Burning Man. Would you mind telling me how you define spirituality so I can get a better sense of the meaning behind your comment?

Spirituality vs. Religion at Burning Man
Hello all! I am a newbie to these fourms and to Burning Man in general. My name is Kye and I'm a senior finishing up my anthropology thesis on Burning Man this year, which means I will finally be able to attend this August! (Burning Man always overlapped with school before). I was hoping to gather s...

Re: Hello and Welcome... What's your name? Tell me about You
Hello! My name is Kye and I'm currently finishing up my senior year at Willamette University in Oregon. I've never been to Burning Man since it always occurs on my first week on classes, but I'm going this year because I'll finally be done with school! I'm an Anthropology major and I'm currently wor...
