Tickets for Wait Staff

As tickets will be going on sale right around the bend, and are increasingly hard to get, I was wondering if the Borg has found a way to deal with group sales to camps who blatantly higher staff to entertain and wait on them. One article published shortly after the burn comes to mind immediately. I ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Kudos Figjam, I used your 5 gallon design last year and made a few small changes. I am certain your original design would have been superior so I am trying to go back to that. The flaws I found with my changes were: The Aspen pad. Nightmare. Major moop. I am trying to find the Duracool pads you spea...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Fig Jam, I can't thank you enough. my swamp cooler worked like a charm. I was in a truck and encased my matress in my tent shell and then strung a rope with a drape across the entrance. Since the temperature inside the truck was at least 5-10 degrees cooler then the outside air, It made for more eff...

Seeking Don Cornelius

Hi All, I am trying to track down the lovely man who travels with the Soil Train on playa and encarnates a modern Don Cornelius. I believe he camps with Black Rock Roller Disco, but have not had any luck with my inquiry on their Facebook page. If anyone knows his name and how to contact him please l...

Lost Earrings

Long shot, but I figured I would give it a try. I had a pair of sterling silver earrings that I thought I misplaced during the bur, but they still have not shown up. Huge sentimental value as they were given to me by a love. They are approximately 1.5 inches in diameter and in the subtle shape of a ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Thanks Fig Jam. My swamp cooler literally saved me when U was overcome by the heat one day. I purchased Cooler Master SickleFlow 120-2000 RPM 120 mm Computer Case Cooling Fan (Smoke) Cooler Master (798) fan which worked ok, but will update it for next year as it really did not deliver the air well. ...

SASSI Branding Iron

My SASSI branding iron popped out of my bike basket around the 4-5 o'clock side near Esplanade early in the burn . It is an ink stamp mounted on a long black handle and decorated with gild lace trim. Please let me know if you find it.
Thanks,
Sassi

Re: cooling your tent or van

Oops. Forgot to check back in. Yes! It works! I live in NY, and had to get it on the container for shipment to the playa. The fan did not work the first time but I just switched the wires, and it worked perfectly. I used a deep cycle wheelchair battery. From what I have read it will work for about 5...

Re: 100% solar swamp cooler, no batteries!?

Would I be able to recharge the battery with a solar panel? From what I have read in the multiple threads and over searches, I should be able to run the fan and pump on the battery for a week. CanI recharge my battery by disconnecting it from the fan and pump and connecting it to a 30 watt or 50 wat...

Re: HexaYurts

I live on the east coast and want to build a Hexayurt for this year's burn.
Am I crazy to think that I can cut the pieces and pre tape the seams in a Parkin lot a couple of days before going to Black Rock City?
Anyone looking to sell one? I have a new tape.if so private message me please.

Thanks

Re: HexaYurts

Ratty,
I made a scale replica of the Hexayurt with that triangular configuration but it won't fit two people in there. Would have been so easy.

Re: Multiple Room Dwelling

Sellers, that would be a sweat dwelling. Found a company in the UK that sells these tents that are nicer, and probably larger then my apartment when I was looking around the Internet. I suspect they are made for families who don't really want to camp but bring their house to the outdoors. They do ha...

Re: HexaYurts

Is thre any way to build sleeping pods on to the classic Hexayurt design? Looking to make one with two sleeping pods to each fit two people. I was thinking of the stretch design, but from what I have read they have not been tested on the playa and I worry that the center section of that design might...

Multiple Room Dwelling

I was planning on making a Budget Truck into our home this year, but my reservation is turning into a fiasco at this point so I am exploring other alternatives. I was looking forward to going completely off the grid and have the lighting situation and solar powered swamp coolers worked out. Ideally ...
