Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2019
Still working out the logistics and details for my pending trip, but I will definitely take advantage of this if I go!
With a midnight gate opening, this is a great way to get some rest pre and post Burn.

Just booked with the discount rates today 07/25!
They didn't even ask me for the BARBIE17 code. I just told them that I have a special group rate, and they offered the same prices!

Re: Renting a car in 2017
It helps if you rent a car far from the event. I have rented from Alamo at LAX more than once. No problems and they didn't even check engine etc. Get your hands on some plastic sheeting to cover the inside of the car and keep it closed as much as possible. Also make sure you turn the air con to rec...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man
Have read this thread a couple of times now. I'm not that shy but introvert with low self esteem one of my fears going to burning man is that i will end up as a spectator. So i made these. Re: playa names
I think we have a winner! :D So, should I come up with my own name, or have someone give one to me? I read about camps where their gift was to have a veteran burner quick chat with you, ask you a bunch of questions, and then they come up with a fitting Playa name. It sounds cool, and I would totall...

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff?

It looks pretty cool (no pun intended), but a bit pricey too.

Re: One Item for BM a Day
I use 10" Coleman stakes that are very similar (big nails, basically) except for green plastic thingamabobs under the heads to help prevent them from getting lost in the earth. A 30" Fulton wrecking bar helps get 'em back out. I was going to go with the 12" nails (I didn't think about the washers T...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man
I like to think of myself as being pretty out going and friendly, but being from a big city where eye contact is pretty much a social taboo, I'm afraid that although I may want to roll up on someone and start a conversation, or compliment them, my conformist norm behavior might hold me back a bit. I...

Re: Utility belt?
I found an old police leather gun belt with a crazy brass buckle on the front. It came sans weapon holster (I would take that off any ways) but it did have some other pouches and key ring fobs on it. I plan on attaching some extra holders to it, and maybe a water bottle bracket. I'm just worried abo...

Re: Virgin (2013) from Toronto - INTRO
That's not cheating--to me. First timer, long distance, international travel . . . those are some decent challenges right there. And you'll still need to put up your own tent. :) I'm not too worried about the tent. I've done quite a bit of camping in many extreme environments, but never the desert,...

Re: Virgin (2013) from Toronto - INTRO
Just curious...why do people sit on the fence about burning man? It's easy to look back and say "yes" but if you've only heard about the even, or even seen some pictures and stuff, you may question whether it is something you want to invest a lot of time, effort, and time-off on. Then there's the w...

Virgin (2013) from Toronto - INTRO
HI! I'm Malcolm, and I'm so excited to be taking part in my first Burning Man this year! I've been on the fence for years on whether to go for years now, and after some deep conversations with friends of mine, and myself, I finally decided that it's time to go. This is my first post after registerin...
