I did not buy the vehicle pass because I will not need one, but I got a chance to buy one. And I just checked, my burner profile still says I am signed up for STEP even though I paid for the ticket and got confirmation email.

I just bought two tickets through STEP. I register at an unspecified moment in time in the first 20 minutes. (It is hard to say with compulsive clicking and then seeing that I am signed up after the page reloaded).
