Re: Bike Builders Unite
So i am building a trike towed "party cart". Any suggestions on how to gear down the trike to make towing easier? It is a standard Schwin trike and feel like this should be pretty straight forward, but I have spent all of my time on the cart and not on the bike. Thanks for any tips! https://c1.stati...

Re: Ideal Bike-towed bar cart
any finished pics? I am looking to build something similar wheel wise to tow behind a Trike.
Also, thickness of the plywood used for the wheels?
Thanks!

So you got two of those wheels from a mongoose, where did you get the third?Raoul wrote:A little more progress on the trike. Added ape-hangers, seat and basket.

Also, did you lace the mongoose rims onto the hollow hubs yourself?

Last year I am pretty sure the way you mentioned worked best. Trying to decide what is the best way, and am leaning the way you described.

Pre-cooked, vacuum sealed chicken/carnitas mixed with curry sauce and frozen veggies from trader joes. Add in some 10 minute rice cooked in the jet boil and we were eating like kings. Felt like cheating having a freezer and fridge out there, but it sure was worth it not having to deal with coolers o...

using the 14x3/8 lags was a dream. For future users, I put in over 30 lags with my cordless Dewalt impact driver. Didn't completely drain the two batteries when putting them in. Only took one battery to take all of them out. My neighbors pointed at me and said, "wow! they are using power tools!." ha...

Price is printed on the back of the ticket. I'm sure many people bought a pre-sale with intentions of trying to buy a regular priced ticket later. If they succeeded, sell the $800 dollar ticket. If they failed, well they are still going to Burning Man, just the ticket expense is twice as much. It wi...

not sure what height you are tying down from, but this triangle should help explain why 10 feet is too short if you want to do the X method. http://www.moomoomath.com/publishImages/Definition-of-Scalene-Triangle~~element57.JPG If I were you, I would use 15 at an absolute minimum. Not sure why giving my code to someone else to use to buy a vehicle pass would be a bad thing. It would only be one pass purchased with that code. Feel like it is well within the "help the community" vibe. If I don't use the code, it would go to waste. Hopefully I wasn't clear enough and you thought...

was testing my lag screws last night and just want to confirm my experience. Ground was pretty loose dirt. some lags went all the way down, others stopped about an inch shy. This was due to me using a deep socket and not putting anymore downward force on the screw. This should not be a problem on th...

did my dry run last night. couple questions/comments 1. In what order does everyone put theirs up? Mty wife and I assembled the whole top, tarps and all and then put the legs in, starting at one side. Is this the best method? Obviously this would require very little, if any, wind present. 2. Right n...

I am doing the exact same shade/rope method. How long are you per-cutting your rope sections? I was thinking 20ft would be a safe length to do the trucker's hitch. Giving it a test run on thursday.

It was awkward watching the lowes employee cut thirty, 2-chain link sections for me. But he wouldn't let me help and I didn't want to cut them at home with an angle grinder. Now time for a dry run.

The biggest challenge will be getting up and over the Sierras, but I think the best bet is to stay on the interstate. Long way is not only longer, but one thing to know about interstates is that they tend to have easier grades (inclines) than other roads. In the case of I-80, it also has an additio...

It is a short bus, diesel, automatic. I agree it should be able to carry plenty of weight, but it wouldn't hurt to make it as light as possible.
