Re: cooling your tent or van
you don't think the small hole size is limiting the pump's ability to move water? i've also noticed there is always an air bubble trapped somewhere in the ring that generally hangs out in an area that prevents 1 or 2 holes from spraying, they just drip instead. is that normal or an indication that t...

Re: cooling your tent or van
so i bought the pump that figjam suggests and i'm curious about the size of hole i should drill. the first ring i made i think the holes were to big. the next one i used a 1/16 drill bit and drilled holes every inch. I'm thinking that maybe i'd be better with bigger holes? What size and how far apar...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Finally got the cooler up and running! It's too humid around here to tell how well it's working so I'm just gonna trust that it'll work. It's gotta be better than nothing! Question: Is there any way to muffle the high pitch noise the fan makes? I' notice if i put my hands over the opening that high ...

Re: cooling your tent or van
UPDATE: The bucket will fit in the truck bed, next to the camper! I have to angle the camper ever so slightly to make it fit but it's not very noticeable and I think my OCD can handle it. I have everything I need to make the cooler, now I just need to do it. I'm hoping to make some headway tomorrow....

Re: cooling your tent or van
A quality flapped dryer vent is an easy way to one-way that flow (with a remote switch for the swamp-cooler routed to your bed above, you don't have to get out of the bed to cap the output to keep the cool with it off), but then you've got issues for connecting a hose. If you had such a vent with y...

Re: cooling your tent or van
WOW! That was a lot to take in. I'm not sure I've processed everything yet but all this info has been super helpful and has given me some ideas. First off, I don't think that the bucket will fit underneath the bench hole. That was my initial idea but I did some measurements and it appears that the b...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I do have the slide out bed that is the full width of the camper. I lay with my feet to the front bumper and head to the back bumper, not sideways. The lower windows do not open, the upper glass windows and the triangular vinyl windows do open. The bench openings are pretty large, maybe 1.5' by <1'....

Re: cooling your tent or van
Got the fan today. The 190 cfm that figjam links to in previous posts. I got it here for a bit cheaper than the place figjam suggests. Pump is on the way, again, same one figjam suggested. Fan is here, pump should be tomorrow. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post em, there's really not much on the ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hello again, So I've starting accumulating all the necessary stuff to build a bucket cooler. Fan, pump (the one's figjam suggests) and battery minder charger are on the way and I bought a Costco 115 AH marine starting/deep cycle battery yesterday. I have a few questions about the battery. What's the...

Re: cooling your tent or van
First off...Thanks to Figjam for posting this and being so active in answering questions. I think this is the only forum I've seem where people don't get flamed for asking questions that have already been asked. No snarky comments about using the search feature. What a welcomed relief. I've done my ...
