@unjonharley I’m in absolute agreement about optimal choice.
I’m just providing an armchair analysis for those who wish to experiment.

Re: Belt Bikes
As a lover of working on bikes, and a sometimes-mechanic at Playa Bike repair, I've looked a bit at this solution for burner-friends. Here's my thoughts without having actually worked on one. I note there is a decent Wikipedia page outlining the general benefits / drawbacks of a belt drive. My own a...

Hey, Hexayurt people - What are people's current best-practices for doors? Here's what I think I know: Plywood fastened to some, or all of the side Door opening can be all the way to the ground Plywood thru-bolted to underlying polyiso, or perma-bonded to polyiso Some people cover the full side with...

For what shirt under the coat, what do you envision? Shorter, hip length, belly shirt, or something longer? A shift or minidress may do the trick, or look at womens yoga or belly dance wear. Sleeves or no sleeves? Warm or cool? Good questions to ask to help me start narrowing the problem. I definit...

February 2017 *bump*. Time to start planning. Some ideas for other guys: Here are some of my go-to's that make me happy - though I'm interested in more good ideas out there. Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day
I duct taped the batt pack to the spokes , had no batts fall out . Well there ya go. Duct tape to the rescue. Thanks! I'll try a couple of zip ties, put them close to the hub (so there's little centrifugal force), and reinforce with duct tape. Did you get yours from RTGS? And, anybody want to recom...

More battery powered LED's. Re: cooling your tent or van
My attempt at the 5 gal bucket cooler went pretty well, though not perfect. Notes from my experience: Get construction started early. You'll have to get things from online sources, and if anything goes wrong, you won't have time to recover. The fan Figjam recommends does indeed put out of lots of ai...

Current cooler pad instructions?
Hey, Figjam - What page of the thread is the current best-practice on the cooler pads shown? I don't think the front-page post edited & up to date, and I can't remember which thread page has current cooler pad instructions. If it's not easy to find, here's what I'm assuming. - Fix the outer pad so i...

I think it's important to note that i love the OOOOONTZ. i really do, i used to get made fun of, called names for my musical tastes, and now that it's mainstream, i find the whole "scene" pretty interesting, from a sociological standpoint... one more thing.....TRAP sucks worse than dubstep....that ...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hey, Figjam - 1) The Harbor Freight pump does not (now) come with alligator clips, as you've mentioned in the last couple of posts. The one I bought from Harbor Freight this week has only a little push-on end that connects to the solar panel. I note that it is also (now) 7 volts, not 12, which requi...

Hey, Figjam - I went looking at Ace HW's website, and they don't list the Duracool pads. But I'll assume I can do the multi-store order thing from your store. I forget - did you say I _place_ the order from my local store (which, in Massachusetts, is highly unlikely to even know what these are, much...

So BRCPO is definitely a place I'll walk up to & volunteer for this year. I'm a virgin, so this seems like an excellent way to experience my first Burn! Logistics for separate travelers picking up STEP tickets
Hi - I have two tickets obtained via STEP, both under my name. (Virgin Burner, me.) The other person is traveling from a different location, and arriving at a different time than me. I arrive first (likely a day or two before the other). I recall that STEP tickets are picked up at Will Call. Will I ...

If you build the bucket as designed, you'll have a complete air exchange about every 5 minutes. Duct it into the space over your sleeping area so that it will cool that area if not the whole yurt. 8) Thanks, Figjam. Ok. You've convinced me. Hi - I've been planning on building & staying in an H12 Hexayurt. (See the 2nd image, lower-left of the 4 in the diagram, called an "8' Hexayurt" on this page: http://www.appropedia.org/Hexayurt_playa .) Quick back of the envelope calculation suggests this is around 1,000 cu. ft. I'd been planning o...
