Re: Frozen vacuum-sealed meals?
I do a variety of burritos (breakfast/veggie/potato) - wrap in foil and freeze. Take a few out of the dry ice cooler to defrost in reg cooler and then use a steamer basket/boiling water to reheat. Amazing. I also like to do smaller portions (enough for two, or one with leftovers for later) or one la...

Re: cooling your tent or van
*the only issue we ran into was leaking when first turning the pump on, which resolved after a minute or so of running the fan*

Re: cooling your tent or van
We ended up making a variation of the three-sided box cooler for our dome...it worked so beautifully, even surpassed my expectations :-) It was mostly used for sleeping into the late morning but occasionally for an afternoon nap. One day, two of our campmates who failed to find sleep before noon use...

Re: How much sealing is really necessary for a YurtDome?
I have the 18ft, used it the past two years. Last year I sealed all seams shut with clear all weather tape - time consuming but I was expecting the worst after hearing stories of dusty conditions. Honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between that and having no seal the year before...very litt...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I should mention that the dome will be covered in black sunshades to block the majority of direct sunlight...helps a little. Last year I taped all the inner seams in preparation of extreme dust conditions, will probably leave it like that minus one upper seam where I can insert a vent if needed. So ...

Re: cooling your tent or van
The dome is a playadome from Shelter Systems...18ft diameter, white, pvc/plastic sheeting. I've used it the past two years and have seen others like it on the playa. I'm leaning more towards a tall rectangular trash can design that I have seen in previous posts, with the pad/vent side against one of...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I am going to do the unicooler design, pad on one side but do two pads side by side...just have the fan pointing upward instead of on the opposite side as pads. Had not thought about ducting, this design literally popped up within the past hour and wanted to talk logistics with you first. If the uni...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Figjam- What are your thoughts on making a unicooler with an Endless Breeze fan on the lid, facing upwards? I want to use a bin/box that is similar in size to a cooler or storage bin, with two air vents on one of the long sides, but am having difficulty finding one that is deep enough. This is for m...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Hey Figjam... I've read many, many, many of the replies on this thread...but still need a bit of guidance before I (aka my boyfriend who has been roped into the project) gets started. My original plan has been the bucket...but around 4am when I should have been studying for my chem final, I realized...
