Last year I took just one pair of shoes, my Timberlands, but other than well broken in comfy shoes, FOOT CARE is the best way to keep your feet happy. I did the vinegar wash, with a mist bottle to make it easier, and then I rubbed my feet with bag balm every morning, Dreamcatchers camp last year was...

Nicole, I would suggest you also look at at the theme camp list on the BM web site. If you find one that you like, email them and ask if they are still taking new people, you might find everything you need. See you at the Hostel in Reno, I live here and like helping Fred out, it starts my burn about...

OK... I'm backtracking to discuss the real underlying basic problem with all this... So what is wrong with a "Lexus with a penis painted on the side" driving around BRC? a) Is it the rest of us are jealous they get a nice ride? While we all get sweaty, sore butts on our bicycles. One of the main th...

Done and Done. except..always an except ... packing clothes and buying food. Grocery list written, Clothing list ditto, Water ready. Then again its only 2 hours to BRC so all I really had to do was check over my regular camping gear add BM stuff and take out stuff my camp is duplicating. Besides I a...

I should never post tired, I didn't mean too sound that sharp. Sealboy said it, the only thing change might be say as far out as Jupiter or 9:15/8:45 on the clock, depending on who is in front of you in line, they all might head for 9:00. I think I read the frontage on the esplanade was 520" so it g...

Question, are you a registered theme camp? If yes, then go in when you asked on your paperwork, as your spot is assigned. If no then you are not getting in until 12:01 Monday morning, along with everyone else in line at that time. At that point I woud say you have a good chance of finding a spot big...

Tobacco...if you don't smoke, bring some, unless you're politically opposed. Way good giftey out there. I took 3 extra cartons of smokes, one of my biggest joys was handing out packs to those who came up asking to bum a cig. I would just reach in my pocket pull out a pack and say here ya go brother...

Re: Vegas to Reno
I try NOT to stop for gas in Tonopah, it's the most pricey, if you can wait for Hawthorne it's your best bet. If you absolutley have to stop in tonopah for gas go all the way through town (I hope the station is still there) till you see a gas sign that directs you up the hill, ok so that's not too ...

Ivy is right, the motor Lodge at Atlantis is good, you also might try Western Village in Sparks, it is right at I-80 and the East McCarren exit. There is a truckstop there and great food. you will aslo miss most of the I-80 construction. As for down town, they are digging a trench to but the train t...

Re: Tips on Driving in From Las Vegas
Hello. I'm flying to Las Vegas, picking up my daughter. Then I need to drive to the Reno Airport to pickup a first-time burner dude. I have never driven from Las Vegas -- always one direction or the other on I-80. Anyone out there in e-plyaland know how many hours it will take us to drive from LV t...

Piper, I'm sure plenty of people will be stopping in the Reno/Sparks area anyway to buy one last "Must Have" before the final approach to Black Rock City. 8) True, I spent a lot of time and gas taking Hostel members around buying those last min. things(Its what I do to help Fred out, makes me feel ...

Hmm, for electrolyte replacement try gookinaide
http://www.gookinaid.com/ I have used this for over a year and it is THE BEST. It is not a thick sweet taste, kinda like very watery kool aide but it puts ALL the electrolytes back not just sodium and it is fast .

Re: Driving from New England- where to get water?
[quote="Icepack"]I still have not heard an answer to this question, and I've asked a half dozen times... Without going to Reno, and without bringing water from home, where can you buy water? We have those blue containers that we want to fill. Is there anywhere in Winnemucca, Elko, or etc. on I-80 in...

I’d like a skunk sporran, myself... I've seen some skunk pelts on ebay if you were looking to make your own sporran. By the way, what are the dimensions of a sporran? I tried looking up sporran patterns on the web and as far as I can see they are around 6" x 9", does that sound right? They seem to ...
