Re: My Van and I

ha ha......that van is AWD (at least it says so on the door)......really slow day at work for me to play detective. Yeah, you could do some off roading with a van like that As far as phone service goes people make the trip to gerlach for various reasons (food, showers, fuel, ect) so you can still co...

Re: My Van and I

There were a lot of holes in that story. It's bullshit. And if it were true this guy is the biggest idiot ever. The first most alarming tell tale bullshit was the plan to call each other when a ticket was found. Everyone who has really ever been to BRC knows that wont work. There's too much other b...

Re: How to take over a theme camp

JK is correct - if you don't like what your dues are going towards, leave the camp. What they do or don't do with the members money isn't the LLC's concern, nor is what they do off-playa (unless they are marketing off of the Burning Man name, not their own). If the other members are fine with it, t...

Re: How to take over a theme camp

Just kind-of thinking out loud here I'm planning to (a) inform BM of the situation and ask that the camp be put on some kind of probation until the issue is resolved (b) put a plan together to form a new camp without the upper management from the old camp based on BM principles (I'm not sure if this...

Re: How to take over a theme camp

Since you are the only person that is unhappy with the situation, the solution seems obvious. It's not so much it doesn't bother other people as most just don't think it is that much money but when multiplied by 130 people you start getting into some big numbers here - about $20,000. That's $20k th...

How to take over a theme camp

If I think my camp boss is being too greedy and not adhering to the principles of BM (i.e. he's just in it for the money) what would be the best way of outing him/them or taking over the camp? Would informing BM management even be worthwhile? I ask b/c if BM didn't give said camp placement then it i...

Re: Playa Lung ??!!??!!!???

*sigh* Reaction to the dust is idiosyncratic. I wouldn't suggest breathing it year round, and having dust masks available is good, but if we are talking about a week's exposure, especially a week with few white outs, you are probably okay. Work with your doctor if you have serious questions. and yo...

Re: Dont have a camp? Join us!!!

I'd love to find out how your camp was! Loved watching it come together. Like most new camps there was probably some sort of power struggle.......almost non of these camps are truly democratic. Most are run by a single dictator (CAMP BOSS/WHIPPING BOSS) or a council of like minded individuals so an...

Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2013

Walked by the Sands last night - looks like someone had their car window broken out over by the pool. Maybe it's a good idea to keep the rift-raft over in that part of town anyway.

But after making $xx,xxx it was awfully nice of camp boss pyro to help the little man out

Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2013

[quote="Dr. Pyro" If you don't like it, stay somewhere else. See if I give a shit.[/quote] Translation - the answer is "NO" camp boss pyro would not stay at such a low class joint. Maybe you should try to get a deal at one of the big corporate hotels up the street - and for all the complaining on ep...

Re: Playa Lung ??!!??!!!???

And people are still dumb enough to camp on a DRY LAKE BED with cancer causing silica dust??? Just look what it does to your car.......that's what your lungs will look like. BM should be held on a orange grove or corn field SOMEWHERE, but a dry lake bed - very dumb

Re: Canned Food

So I went shopping yesterday for food. Some pastas, canned beans, chili, crackers, peanut butter and other stuff. I'm flying out of Miami so I'm thinking of ways to cut down weight. My question is can I open these canned beans and chilli and store them in zip locks into my luggage. I have a cooler ...

Re: Barbie Death Village Reno Hotel Deal 2013

Your friends and collegues at Barbie Death Village have once again arranged, not only for ourselves but for our fellow ePlayans, another terrific hotel deal in Reno for those coming to or from the playa needing a place to stay for the night. The Sands Regency has taken down an entire floor of rooms...

Re: Free camping

While starting a post in another thread, I looked to see where the couchsurfers were camping. After finding their website, I discovered they were looking to collect a fee of $800 per person. With that said, what are my options on the playa if I'm not looking to pay anything to set up my tent? Only ...

Re: Income for a Camp Boss

We dont need to get to page 2 on this topic. Can someone PLEASE tell the newspapers to stop giving BM coverage or at the very least STOP referring to this event as "counter cultural." There is almost NOTHING counter cultural about BM anymore - except for maybe the burner with the 20 ft RV countering...

I gotta get over to the GSR tonight - I wonder if there are any camp bosses still there with their counter culture a/c RV's sipping martinis by the pool. Oh gee I forgot.....thanks to BM GSR jacked their rates up this week to like $200 per night (when I checked last week anyway)..........hows the pa...

Income for a Camp Boss

Much has been spoken about the decommodification of BM in the news but there is almost no info of what seems like everyone and their mother making a buck off BM. With some "for profit" camps approaching 1000 people (example: [removed] has around 600 and [removed] with all it's off shoots probably mo...
