BRC Hardware is at 9:30 and Center Camp Plaza
BRC Hardware is back for year #18. We'll be bringing tools and expertise for fixing whatever we can from whenever someone is up in the morning until sundown-ish starting Sunday 8/27 (maybe Saturday as well, if setup goes quickly).

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and support. Nephew got out of surgery about an hour ago. The surgeons believe that they got almost the entire mass out with the exception of a small amount of film on his brain stem, but well within the acceptable parameters for this type of tumor. He's recovering ...

Re: The Bar 2015 Edition
Hello the bar.
My mother called today.
My nephew has brain cancer.
He's two and a half.
He has surgery on New Year's Eve, if anyone can spare a prayer or a good thought.
I could use a drink.

It was also right by HEaT-fortunately, someone was thinking quickly and pulled the burning RV away from the equipment yard, and kept it from being much worse.

Making up a giant pot of red beans and rice for my contribution to my camp's group meals for the week. I finally had to toss the stupid cat out of the house because I got tired of having to toss him off the counter "No, Johnny, you don't get ham. Or sausage. Or beans."
But my house smells amazing.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I pulled out all my bins and got all my clothes and gear into one place to see what needs to be repaired/replaced/finished. I'm not sure what happened to my lights, but the ones I could find all seem to be dead, but I think I have most of the other things sorted, aside from a few clothes repairs and...

I made a swag type thing:
Copper pendants etched with ferric chloride; that's my camp's logo. The one on the right I treated with a gas flame to give a patina; the left I painted with some alcohol ink.

I sort of suspect you're right, Captain Goddammit. Or at least there's even odds of some prankster type laughing their ass off at this, or some poor soul who is seriously confused about the ratio of curmudgeons, oddities, and aforementioned pranksters to peace/love, positive energy, and candy coated...

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
The last of my bits of supplies for my playa swag arrived yesterday. Tomorrow I do a test run since I'm trying a technique for the first time. And either tonight or tomorrow, I'm dragging out my bins and planned gear to do a test pack to check to see what needs to be repaired or replaced. It's getti...

Re: shame on you Millionaire Camp
I'm pretty sure those are the people they're making fun of LadyMudBunny. I think maybe their satire is a little hard to read in internet posts, but if you look at their stuff, there's enough random silly ridiculousness to push it into clear satire (ie, the bottle disposal fee and cork disposal fee a...

Hi neighbors! As I mentioned on the Fixer camp thread, BRC Hardware will be on the playa for its 15th (maybe 16th?) year. This year we are at 9:15 and Center Camp Plaza. We'll have a variety of tools, parts, and fix-it types for your repair needs, and whiskey and commiseration if it can't be fixed. ...

Re: 3:00 Neighborhood Camps
WanderlustFlaneur, the camp is supposed to be satire, I'm sure. So you could say it's their art, and I bet if you drop by to check them out on playa, you can probably play along with the joke. As for love...that's one possible experience. Some of us express our love a little differently, a little mo...

Joeln, I salute your hard work and self sacrifice to ensure that the rum has been properly tested. This weekend, I'll be *attemptin...

Hi Hiro!
Let me know where you guys are going to be camped when you know-BRC Hardware likes to know where it's fellow fixers are! Maybe we can find a time for a fixer camp get together.

Maybe cover over the labels with blank labels that you write the general description over? "Peanuts," "trail mix," "Chocolate candies." I'd make sure you *don't* cover the ingredients listing, though, since people with allergies and such would want to look that over.

In addition to Captain Goddammit's suggestions, I've had good luck at some of the Value Villages in Seattle. The one on 11th in Capitol Hill gets interesting stuff but gets picked over quickly-the one in Ballard/Crown Hill on 15th Ave NW and 85th St is where I've actually found a lot. I especially l...

I filled out a volunteer questionnaire today. (Eep!) I found myself feeling really shy last year, which is NOT me at all, so I'm hoping having something to do/a reason to interact with other people will help break that shell a bit this year. Also got my relevant info to our camp contact person as we...

FIGJAM, I haven't tried NatureBox (yet), but I have been getting a similar service called Graze, and I'm really liking it, and seriously considering hoarding the last couple of boxes I get before leaving for the Playa.
