Re: Lag screws vs everything else...
I would break a sweat pounding rebar into the playa... Not so much with lag screws. That, to me, is an example how worth it lag screws are. 13 lag screws held up my 10 x 20 structure flawlessly last year.

Re: All About Participating in the Pottie Project
In the last JRS, they again addressed the poop bucket by directing people to this blog post from 08/17/2015: ... Lastly, in the event of extended rain, pumping trucks will have trouble servicing the toilets and the porta-potties will fill up. You’ll need your own place to go. The solution? A Poop Bu...

"Everyone is allowed in, but I am only inviting hot women."
Makes sense.
Reminds me of this video where only hot women, many topless, appear. Creepy/pervy factor level 10.

Pershing County sheriff Jerry Allen is saying his words were mischaracterized - it will not be a complete crack down on Burning Man, only on nudity and drugs.

Re: All About Participating in the Pottie Project
Well, I was hoping someone with lots of knowledge about the porta-potties struggles would do it, but I took a stab at it. Good morning, In the last JRS you said: "Bring a 5-gallon bucket with a trash bag and some kitty litter to use as an alternative to the potties, should they become inaccessible (...

I too was disappointed in the JRS. They could at least quote their own page about personal toilets. http://burningman.org/event/preparation/playa-living/human-waste-disposal/ The proper way/products are available. Why suggest something that won't be the best alternative to the portas, and even worse...

Hey Sour Patch. I have this impact driver... trying to get acquainted with it but what kind of adapter or head did you use for the lag screws? Thanks. This is what you will need along with some deep sockets. You can use any brand. http://www.harborfreight.com/hex-drill-socket-driver-set-3-pc-68513....

Re: cooling your tent or van
I solved the leaking problem in my bucket cooler by running a fishing line loop around the wet pad. Squeeze the pad with the line at the mid point of the holes. That should separate the pad from the bucket enough to stop the leaking.

Will Chase was kind enough to update the Human Waste Disposal section of BM's website. PERSONAL TOILETS If you’re going to use a personal toilet, that’s great. Since you are flying solo, try to reduce your gray water to absurdly small amounts. After that, filter your water with pantyhose, add bleach, let it act for a few hours, then sprinkle on the playa at noon. From BM Website: http://burningman.org/event/preparation/playa-living/gray-water/ Filter, trea...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Let me correct my previous post. My configuration allows me to have the pad vertical. The original unicooler WOULD have tilted pads if nothing is done to correct that since they are attached against the walls of the trash can. Sorry about that.

... I've been wondering about the tilt thing when looking at people building Unicoolers out of those Genuine Joe trash bins which appear to be tapered slightly... I'm assuming it's not too much of an issue if you then tilt the whole cooler correctly so that the pad inside is perfectly vertical. Sti...

Just got my Lag Bolts in the mail (14" X 3/8") and noticed a good portion of them had bends in them. When I screwed them into the soft, east coast dirt in my backyard, the bend created a big hole surrounding where they went in. Even if I tried to straighten them by eye, they'd still created enough ...

Check your air flow with and without that extra filter. It will restrict the air flow. I don't use one, and I don't think you need it. Nice job!!! 8) The air filter does restrict the flow a bit. I'm ready to remove it completely should it affect the performance of the unicooler too much. Thanks for...

Re: How much will playa dust scratch clear vinyl (a zorb)?
You have already been told that the idea of a zorb is bad. Isn't it a moot point to find out how much or how fast it will get scratched up? Anyway, considering an average use of 5 hours per day, the vinyl will be scratched as soon as the zorb starts rolling on the playa (probably at a rate comparabl...

Not a good idea as I suspect that trash is hand sorted. The place where we disposed of our trash and poop bucket had a huge trash dumpster. How do people dispose of used luggable loo bags etc? I saw plenty of "no human waste" signs post burn. I always thought they could be disposed as trash in the landfill.
