Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

Kairielise, On 'Spark' you have a most beautiful avatar. (She's in the shower wearing nothing but jig-saw puzzle pieces). You are gorgeous. Please add an avatar here. That's all. carry on... Lol thanks. That was my Halloween costume from 2008. Been meaning to put it up but I haven't gotten around t...

Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

I'm one of those shyness sufferers. One of the many reasons I want to go to BM is to participate and force myself to be more extroverted. I did have one idea. I'll set up a dedicated email address, and ask people both on my FB and here to send it some random, outrageous, exciting instructions of thi...

Re: Birgin Oopses, Surpiseses, And Aww Shitses

Does anyone have any experience with the LED tape strips they sell for cars? Their fairly cheap at Walmart, come in any color and some have blinky effects. And they come wired to a battery pack and test button in the package. I figure it shouldn't be too hard to replace the button with a switch but ...

Oddly enough though I was just coming on here to browse for light recommendations. You said you weren't impressed with the EL wire, is that EL wire in general, or just the EL wire from EG? Have you used another brand that's better?

Re: Birgin Oopses, Surpiseses, And Aww Shitses

The one thing I learned upon arrival was " DON'T PANIC " it will all work out. If you don't get everything done to your level of perfection, it's Ok . Don't try to do too much on your own & focus your efforts on what you can reasonably get done. Above all else start early (like NOW). ...

Birgin Oopses, Surpiseses, And Aww Shitses

Here's one not on Google (I looked) When you were a birgin, or any year really; assuming you THOUGHT you were totally prepared; what unanticipated bummers happened to you? In other words, what were the most obscure, "I never would've thought to bring/do/save", occurrences made your burn le...

Re: Burner express tickets

Beyond even that, the spoon feeding argument is extremely valid. I love helping people who have shown that they're willing to put in some amount of effort, but I don't want to plan someone else's burn for them. To draw a bizarre yet fitting analogy, if you twist your ankle in deep playa I will carr...

Re: Burner express tickets

I love you Elliot! Ya big sweetheart! I believe I've read almost the entire burning man main site, however due to all the in-text links I do keep finding new pages that I hadn't found before. For example, I had read what I thought was the only page dedicated to the Burner Express. It didn't mention ...

It's cool, I get it. I'm gonna get my ass kicked to break me in, until I'm no longer a NooB and earn my place.

Or maybe you're just a giant douchecanoe who's mean to everyone. I think I'll ask Google.

Re: Survival Guide for College Students Missing First Week?

I too will be dealing with this in Fall of 2014. One advantage I hope I have is that I am an art major, so hopefully my professors will appreciate my need, if not be incredibly jealous of the fact that I'm going to BM. Add on to that, the fact that I'll be going from BM, right into my other great an...

Re: Are Styrofoam coolers banned?

Sounds great, but perhaps you are planning for armageddon or something. I regularly camp in a box truck at the burn and it is comfy until about 9:30 AM with the door closed, 11 AM with it open. After that if I want to sleep I move to my shade structure. Your mileage may vary, but since I generally ...

Re: Are Styrofoam coolers banned?

Well, I have this plan to fly to Reno, rent a box truck for BM. I want to build a cheap basic frame out of 2x4s, just big enough to fit in the opening at the back with the door rolled up. Stretch 2-3 layers of 2mm Visqueen over the frame and secure with staples or tacks, secure the frame to the side...

Are Styrofoam coolers banned?

I know those cheap styrofoam coolers are discouraged because of their propensity for moopiness, but are they outright banned? If I, for example, took the time to carefully shrink wrap it or cover every square inch with plastic bag and packing tape before filling it and bringing it to BRC, will it be...

Re: Burning NAKED

I'm not offended by others being naked, nor would I ever tell someone not to do it. But one thing that does irk me, is the suggestion or implication that if I choose not to be naked in public, BM or default, that I'm somehow not expressing myself to the fullest/limiting my freedom/conforming to the ...

Re: Hello all you wonderful creative people!!

Quick question. So when they say the 2014 event starts on the 25th, does that mean everyone arrives on the 25th, or does everyone arrive and set-up on the 24th and the party starts on the 25th?
