Most playa-durable PA/Subs

I'm putting together a new sound system for our (small-ish) camp this year. This will be my 11th burn, so I'm very well familiar that you don't bring anything to the Playa that you care about making it home, but that being said, anyone have experience with what brands survive best out there? I've go...

Re: How does one charge 2 deep cycle 12v batteries?

Buy 2 deep cycle batteries for each day you will be at Burning Man so you wont need to worry about charging them. They will stay charged longer if you wrap them in aluminum foil & keep them in your trunk. Oh wait, if you asked such a basic question then you may actually do that.......NEVERMIND! (ed...

Re: How does one charge 2 deep cycle 12v batteries?

Buy a battery charger, read the manual, and recharge your batteries. You could also google it. Or Youtube it. Not-so-radical self-reliance and all that. Did this person ask you to fucking charge the battery for them? Jesus Christ. They're asking for help with something they've never done before in ...

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

You think this surge protector will do the trick?

And yes, I'll definitely report back after the weekend. Really appreciate the help everyone.

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

Side note to Captain Goddammit - I began figuring this out about three weeks ago with absolutely no idea how electricity worked and your posts on various other threads have been way more useful than anything else on the internet. Hats off to you sir.

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

Just to throw it out there, the battery charging terminal on an EU2000 won't do nearly as good a job as a decent 120VAC battery charger plugged into the generator while it's running. In case you didn't feel you'd bought enough goddam gear already... :) but seriously, if you have one, bring it. Luck...

Re: Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

I have the following pure-sine inverter (which will be running off a battery charging off a Honda EU2000i to power stuff when the generator isn't on): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WGNNUQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As well as this cheaper one to run off a battery that's being...

Amperage draw before and after DC to AC inverter

So, I've been posting a few stupid questions on here, and I think as I seek to understand how I need my setup to look the biggest conceptual problem I have relates to how I calculate amperage draw. Hoping y'all can help. I get that Volts x Amps = Watts. I'll be ignoring loss due to inefficiency here...

Re: Maintenance free lead-acid marine batteries

Can anyone recommend a good charge controller for charging one of these batteries off the 12V DC output of the Honda (I also have a EU2000i)? I know several people have said not to even bother using the DC output and just get a charger that runs off the AC output - in that event I'd still love a rec...

Re: Please help me validate my setup

Thank you all, this is definitely helpful.

In terms of charging a battery off the generator's DC output - any recommended charge controllers?

Re: Please help me validate my setup

P.S. I realize the amount of time everything is running will impact answers here. Let's assume that there will be six hours of non-generator-running time for the lights and bigger backup stereo per day, and that the 60W stereo (running off the solar/battery) and the swamp cooler will be on at most f...

Please help me validate my setup

I appreciate the help in advance. Kind of a vague idea on power draw at this point, but let me tell you what I have in mind: Part 1: - Honda EU2000i (already own) -105AH Deep Cycle Battery (need to buy - to be charging off the generator when it's running to run lighting for a 20x60 camp and a backup...

Backpack-Sized Power/Stereo Equipment

Hey All. I'm a rapper (a good one, I promise), and I'm trying to construct a backpack that will include the following: 2 x Speakers of decent quality (definitely capable of providing decent bass, although I'm obviously not trying to carry around a sub.) 1 x Microphone input (XLR preferably, although...
