Re: The Future Of Burning Man, AND Defaultia

Where I live (NH) they have Laconia bike week, the locals both love and hate this tradition. They hate it because it brings a lot of traffic and "certain element" to the area. They love it because it brings money and lots of it. Every year there is a vote to keep it out and every year it's shot down...

Re:

The question to honestly examine is "why" are you seeking a theme camp? Is it because logistics are too hard for you? Afraid of the unknown? Fear for your safety when solo? Then maybe you aren't looking to the theme camp for the right reasons. From a newbie perspective, this is a very valid point. ...

Re: Shade for those who fly

I was planning on doing a pitch tent out of tarps based on this post ...But what happens in a 70 mph wind. And if going larger, don't do it with a larger tarp. Much larger forces. Do it with two tarps. Yes it lets a bit of sun through, and yes that sun will provide unwanted heat, but yes it will al...

Understand that I've never been there so I'm just throwing this out there. I wonder if a "park and ride" space would help traffic? Where you could hitch a ride on public transport with trailers for your gear.

I think that would put my luggage weight allotment over LOL. This being my first burn, flying in and then taking the burner bus I am worrying about shelter, shade, hydration, food and the elements. I'm trying to take only what I need to have fun but stay out of the med tent ;)

I only drink water, coffee and the occasional glass of wine but now that I am giving up milk and going vegan I have been starting to drink coconut water, the taste can really vary by brand.

fresh electrolyte drinks

As a person who isn't a fan of the taste of commercial electrolyte drinks I was looking around for alternative and found these http://everydayroots.com/homemade-energy-drink. I thought I would share in case anyone else didn't like them. Careful with coconut and sea salt though since they are natural...

Hi Elliot I love your bus, it's so pretty, I know it was said before but it's just beautiful. As a person who hasn't been on a bike in 20+/- years and is planning on buying one when I land in Reno, do you have training wheels? I might need a set :D

Re: Birgin Camp 2014

Divreon, my idea for shade is a pitch tent out of two tarps, my tent is 9x8 so I figure that will work well but let's not forget i'm a virgin too (fantastic!) so I could end up in the med tent. As for drama, it's been my experience that you put a few hens in the same space and there's going to be dr...

If you want a patdown every single time, travel in a wheelchair. Sometimes I think the TSA's fucks with a person just cause they can. A few years ago we went to FL on vaca with my daughter who at the time was in a stroller and yes she should not have been because she was too big for a stroller but ...

I didn't really say I was going there for something specific except to get away from my daily grind which I think i'll be successful at unless somehow my kids pop up on the playa telling me that they need to buy their books for next semester or I have to sit through yet another IEP meeting. Well Eric, what attracted me to Burning Man is not having to deal with the constant hum of the every day world. Re: Plug & Play/Turnkey Camping

As someone who has never been but hopes to go this year, all I keep hearing about is how tickets (which cost a lot in my world) are in short supply, how is it that these super de duper camps can lock in all these tickets? From an outsider looking in it seems like BM is a great idea that has gone sid...

Re: Burner Express Bus Service To/From BRC

Thank you so much for this thread. It's been very informative and one of the lease snarky posts I've read through. My thought is to pack everything into a large heavy duty plastic "camp trunk" and save my smaller carry on for clothing. I think this would fit into their luggage restrictions. I hope t...

Re: Is it reasonable?

It isn't as though my husband has forbidden me to go. He has zero desire to go to the desert, this is just not his thing. He would prefer I didn't want to go because he worries about all of the variables. I will plan for as much as I can and the rest is up to the universe he knows it and I know it. ...
