Re: Denon MCX8000 dj equipment
I used a MC6000 out there a couple times. After the last time I started having some issues with sliders and crossfaders. Maybe it was the dust, or maybe it was the numerous drinks that have been spilled on that thing over the last 5 or 6 years. If I were you I would seal it up as well as you can, an...

Re: Is placement done?
I just wanted to find out if our camp was going to be accepted as there's a whole lot more work to do if it is with what we proposed. Two points: 1. The vast majority of camps that apply for placement receive it. Also generally if a camp's application is lacking they will email you and ask for more...

Re: What are some of your favorite camps to visit at Burning Man?
Mine, Battlestar Erotica. Just kidding, we're not that exciting . It depends on what you're after but the best is just to roam aimlessly and see what you find. Some of the small random camps end up being the most fun. But as far as larger established camps I really like Voodoo Soup, the Dusty ...

Re: Plz critique my foam panel design aka hexayurt
Very cool! How well do they stack when flat? How did you reinforce the vertical panels? They fold down flat with 9 panels in 3 sections (2 2-panel sections and one 5-panel section). The back wall is reinforced with a 1"x3" wood strut across the middle bolted to the panel with a big washer. The fron...

Re: Plz critique my foam panel design aka hexayurt
It's pretty amazing what you can built out there from foam panels if you think it through properly. Here's my creation: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-obckt-7Tzmk/VE2iPPXaEmI/AAAAAAAAE2k/RBhcxWQ1fSY/s1600/18%3ABRC6673%2Bcopy.jpg We have three of them that have survived three years out there. Re: Plz critique my foam panel design aka hexayurt
Great work! Way to go for it and try out a new idea. How did you end up anchoring it down? Four aluminum steaks on each corner about 3 feet away from the structure with paracord going across the roof. Works pretty well. The aluminum framing is supported by the wooden bracket in the roof, so essenti...

Re: Is it generally softer 3:00 side? Why?
Can't be 2%. That would be a 220 foot drop from the end of 3:00 to the end of 9:00 (11000' x 0.02). Biking east would be a bitch if that were the case. For reference, if you are standing in a parking lot that slopes to a catch basin at the middle, that is generally a roughly 2% grade. Steeper than y...

It's so refreshing to see a post saying "I have these skills and would like to contribute to making a theme camp awesome" rather than "I am looking for a theme camp that will give me this this and this". Thank you.

It's back up. ETA: also, fun fact - events this year started with an event number of 13284. So if your event gets a number of 14784 or less, you're definitely in the printed guide if you chose to be. (Obviously higher numbers might also make it in due to people not wanting a print listing, non-publ...

ESD sub-camp 3 "The 'Burbs" has been placed at about 3:15 between Ersatz and Freak Show. This no-frills, no services camp should not to be confused with the main ESD camp at 3 and Carney. Last year, The 'Burbs was at 3:30 between D and E. Wait, have people started getting their placement decisions ...

I was very grateful for this gift last year. In 2013 we camped at a rest area and woke up in the middle of the night to sprinklers hitting our tent so it was nice to have a real place to camp in 2014. We met some really great people there too.

Thanks!! Good to know that it's not too late. Last year, I didn't plan on going to BM until I was invited last minute (about a month before) by people I met once at a bar haha. Luckily it turned out great, but since I joined so late I wasn't really too involved in all the preparation work that went...

Re: STEP tickets actually directed to specific people
Ya, there is an all. All of the tickets released into the STEP are actually directed to certain people. They are not sold to any old person in the so called queue. The queue is a lie just to cover up what actually happens to the tickets. Well then, it's good to know my friends who have gotten STEP ...

Re: Low Income + STEP Program.
If they only took 4000 applications there would be no need for any review though, there'd be enough LI tickets for everyone that applied. It would be interesting to know how many applications they got/what the success to failure rate is. Yeah I assume they take a certain percentage more than 4,000....

Re: Low Income + STEP Program.
I was always under the impression that they close the applications once they receive 4000 (or a bit more), thus they should have the exact same number of applications to review as any other year. Of course they still have the pressure of all the other sales to deal with, but there's no way they rece...

I don't know about the inner workings but on the surface...The tickets are offered to the next in line and they have 3 days to buy them. I would love to see the inner workings of the STEP program.
